Well, Dallas definitely did look like they were on a back to back in the second half…but even in the first, Dallas wasn’t as impressive as I was expecting.
I was especially expecting more from Williams and Lively. Grant Williams might have Carl Landry syndrome. An impactful reserve who you expect to reach another level in starter minutes…but, really more of the same. Lively looked soft. Almost Willie-Esque.
They will be a playoff team though.
Now to the good guys
Kings got the balance they needed. The San Antonio game wasn’t going to do it.
Domas was amazing. 32 points on 15 shots. Destroyed all they thew at him. Just an excellent stretch for him on this streak. He likes the athletic centers that seem to get high marks defensively. He muscles and finesses them to death. He’s even eaten against guys like Lopez and Gobert.
Oddly, Guys of similar size and athleticism seem to matchup better with Domas. especially if they get away with hacking(!!) like a certain someone.
Another star performance from Fox. If the three ball is here to stay the Kings may become one of the elite this season. He still isn’t getting any love from the refs though…wait until that comes.
Duarte was excellent on both ends. Defensively, rebounding, hitting threes, and made some nice plays off penetration as well.
Keegan put together a strong offensive game. We need double figures whether the three ball is dropping or not. He’s a plus player regardless this season so the leap has been quite significant.
HB was ok. Was bricking threes but he kind of got the Kings in the rhythm in the second quarter and then put the game on ice.
Monk hit some daggers. Low key game play making wise but he knocked the wind out of the Mavs last gasp.
Javale was really solid in the second half. Tried to do too much in the first but settled down.
Sasha got all his points in garbage time but Dallas was respecting his threat and his kick out to Keegan to end the third was beautiful. I still want him to play more minutes.
Keon solid. Hopefully he doesn’t miss any time.
Davion struggled offensively again but I did see him come right in and D up Kyrie when the game was still in reach. He might get minutes tomorrow since even if it’s nothing serious for Keon, they might sit him anyway. Though if I’m Keon, I’m refusing to sit if I can walk since maybe one good Davion performance puts him back. We’ll see
Kings have already clinched what I would say is an “OK” road trip considering the level of competition. 4-2 was my mark for good. Time to get greedy. Not sure what to expect from the Pelicans.
