Stop lol. 0.00% chance you had any idea who Cam Latu was at the time of the draft.
When every single analyst, draft board, online discourse has the guy as a late-round pick and then he shows up in camp and does late-round pick things as a third rounder I think it’s fine to be a little irritated. You cannot tell me there wasn’t an able-bodied OL at that place in the draft. And looking at how the backup line did today, we could have used more lottery tickets at that position.

I didn't know who he was but I was definitely worried when the scouting reports I read basically said that he's not good at the normal things you need a TE to be good at.

For a team with very few early round picks, I thought it was a waste from the beginning.

Yeah decent point. I just pay literally no attention to the NFL draft outside like whoever the top few QBs and skill position guys are.

And mostly, I just think everyone is so bad at NFL eval, that most outside analysis is just noise. NBA draft guys are wrong so often and NFL draft analysis is significantly more variance and "lotto ticket" as you put it. Latu may be a bust of course, but you kinda just don't know until you see game film. That's how a QB like Purdy as the last pick in the draft had had a significantly better career than the #3 pick who we traded 3 firsts to go get thus far.

As one of two Bears fans on the site, Go Bears. I like the moves they have made and the young guys being brought in. A glimmer of hope

Give Fields an efficient OLine, give him weapons to work with and a competent coordinator. Seemingly things are in place. DJ Moore is a guy Chicago just hasn’t had. I liked David Montgomery but Herbert can break it at anytime.
Should find out something with Fields this year.
Fields is going to miss some throws but he’s also going to make plays……lots of big play capability.

Ambry Thomas has come a long way from getting shredded on every single deep ball thrown his direction during his rookie season.
Ambry had like a 3 game window at the end of his rookie year where he showed he wasn’t worthless … then disappeared all of last season.

Man … I feel bad for Trey, but dang he’s terrible.
Yeah, just a VERY expensive lesson to learn. If a guy isn't hands down ready to be a starting QB on day 1, you just can't sell the farm to go get him. And he's obviously had some real bad luck with the season-ending injury last season, but it's just gotten to the point where he's played so little real football in the last 4 years and it shows in the limited reps we get to look at him.

Process was more or less right; this team is super-bowl ready at every slot but the QB to take it home. We're lucky we're getting bailed out by Purdy for still having a shot at a top 15 QB, but nothing Lance has done so far has given me an inclination to go give him the job.

Trey NEEEDED that drive. Hopefully secured QB3.

He isn’t better than Sam. But he isn’t worth dumping yet either.

also, shoutout to Latu who had a good drive.

Purdy's highlights were good - nice 1st down throw. He almost broke that scramble with pivot, but he was gonna get chased down either way...... I'm sure Shanahan was looking to get that series out of the way.
