I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Did no one else watch Domas pull jumpers and 3's when he was open during the regular season? Did I hallucinate 82 games of that?

It's just not something to worry about unless we see the same hesitancy to start next season (with the assumption he's back fully healthy) or if he doesn't pull open jumpers in our next playoff series.
I mean, he did shoot the least amount overall and per game average this past year than he had in the previous 3 years.

Yes and no. He was very inconsistent with his jumper all season long even before fracturing his thumb. For his 3pt shots, he was only averaging 1.2 attempts before his injury and also ended up with 1.2 attempts at the end of the season. For his mid range shots prior to his injury, he was only averaging about 1 attempt per game according to NBA.com. He ended up around the same after his injury.

I noticed that there were games where he was automatic from the mid-range, but then there were other games where he choose to attack close outs and score inside instead. The stats don't agree with the eye test, but it did feel like we saw him more confident with his jumper early on in the season.

But in the playoffs? He didn't even look to take jumpers except for maybe 1 game. He was a non-shooter...but I don't think he was ever a good shooter before. His shooting is a concern, but it's always been a known concern. The Kings just have to live with it. Anyone expecting him to turn into Jokic from the perimeter might be doing some wishful thinking.

It's never been his bread and butter, highlighted by the low volume of 3 point attempts over the full season. He would usually turn down the open 3, to look for something else. The Warriors scouted this and realized that their odds of winning the series were increased by giving Sabonis the outside and mid range. We had not seen anyone use this type of defense against him during the season.

It will be interesting to see how he approaches this next season, because he actually shot a pretty good percentage on the 3's he did take....albeit a low volume. I just want to see him take the open shots he gets, otherwise it's going to be tough to make a deeper run

The overreactions are ridiculous.Sabonis is a 5.Pacers (and earlier OKC) tried to make him into a PF , did not work and the very first season he played as a C only he made All-Nba team.Kings made the playoffs, got 3 seed, took defending champs to 7 games with DS playing nearly 40 min a game all year long.Seems like a season that team should build on

Sabonis needs to work on his mid range and 3point shot - and it will be fine. Also, he needs to do surgery on his hand - I think most people forgot his injury.....
His skill set didnt go away. And he still will be a force to be recon ....

Yep….that’s what he gets for fighting through that injury. Heck, by game seven the abc announcers had forgotten entirely about fox’s broken thumb. Don’t think they mentioned it once while it was clearly an issue in games 5, 6 and 7
