I'm guessing that without fat ass and flat Earth the Mavs are probably not hoping against hope for that number 10 slot. Now let's hope the Kings don't fall into the trap.

Apparently their pick in whichever trade (Kyrie maybe?) was top 10 protected so odds are they are looking to go Plan D or is it E by hanging onto it and drafting a mid lotto level guy to be the next savior to operation Keep Luka?

Sounds about right. Of course, there is always the possibility that some GM wants Irving but has to work a sign and trade out to land him and Dallas will not take a full bath on that bright idea.
In an interesting twist, I once tried to secure funding to go research the history of the only hot springs in England, but they weren't about to take a Fulbright on that Bath idea.

Even if fans can't see the value of the 2 vs. the 3 seed, I am sure the players who get to open a potential second round matchup at home, in their own beds, with their families do. I am sure ownership/management see the value in the extra home game that might bring. Not to mention the pride of a potential 50 win season or 2nd seed carries. Could make or break a post season award as well.
Players seem empowered to ask for load management if they want it, I don't think they do.

I have no idea how motivated the Mavericks will be tonight. All I know is that they are currently on the outside, looking in, one half game behind Oklahoma City.

This will be another good test. Dallas has clearly heard the message from the media loud and clear and are playing hard. If the Kings keep them down, they'll break.
Afteri posted that sat here for a minute and I was just going to edit mine to say oh no screw it let’s just go for 50 get it over with lol. Totally agree.

Once again Kessler showing to be effective... this time on Doncic.
It shore does feel good knowing we can put a guy on someone and have a good chance of shutting them down or at least prevent from taking over a game. Kessler mitigates the best weapons of the other team.
