That was a really bad lost. They were coming off a back to back in an extremely close game against the Warriors. Tonight, they also rested KAT... and we let their role players beat us. Our 3pt shots weren't falling either. I think Keegan is probably feeling the pressure of breaking the rookie record + clinching + his dad at the game tonight. He needs to take a breather and I think fans need to stop holding the record over his head. He's going to eventually break it whenever he does. Malik Monk can be so awful sometimes..... feels like it's been all the time lately. His turnovers have been god-awful and reminds everyone of why he sat on the bench in Charlotte. Need a lot more consistency from him if we want to make noise.

Collectively, we still have to learn to play better defense. If we keep playing this type of defense, we legitimately might get swept in the 1st round. It seems like "home court" advantage means nothing to the guys.
We didn't let their role players beat us lmao. Quit your BS. The TWolves TEAM beat us, and it was a collective effort. It's like saying if Lyles had a big game then the other team let the Kings role players beat them. Gtfoh with that. The Kings lost. They had a chance. They didn't capitalize. Huerter, Barnes, Lyles, Monk, Murray, Edwards, and Len did not have it. Is what it is.

I just want to say. This team was NOT predicted to be here. The fact that they are speaks a whole lot of volume. They are young. Fairly inexperienced. And still figuring things out together.

The fact they are her and doing what they are doing should be enough. Some of ya need to chill and reassess.

Yes, we want them to go all the way. Was that really going to happen in year 1? 99.9% NO.

Will we have a strong chance to advance to round 2? Possibly, depending on how many lessons we learn in the regular season before we go into a series.

We start a rookie. Our #1 scorer has never been to the playoffs. We have a veteran SF who crap his pants in the playoffs. A center who is undersized physically but oversized in the heart department. And a SG who was wrongly used in his playoff experience.

Let them grow. This is year 1 of a 5-7 year run. ****ing chill. You tiktok instant gratification Era peeps just drive me.

Do yall even know what 1999 and round 1 against Utah was even like?
I second, third, fourth, and fifth this with a side of sauce. Here here!

They beat us handily without KAT in 2 previous games of course they rested him when guys like Naz give us fits while this team makes minced meat out of "modern bigs".

Really hope Monte makes a difference maker trade this offseason. I just don't feel there's any consistency outside of Fox and Sabonis.
The playoffs are going to be a huge batch of intel. Specifically with the Suns. If they dominate, the bar is now there. Period. If the games are like last years, any team that can shoot has a chance to do some damage.

I think that at some point Kings fans are going to have to accept that the team is what it is, for the remainder of this season, anyway, and have faith that McNair will address the defensive woes in the offseason. In the meantime, enjoy the ride.
And be happy that he might have more than one option in terms of what he wants to do this offseason to get to the next step. Internal or external.

We have struggled all year against bigger, longer teams. Especially teams that have long, athletic wings that defend our 3 well, and force us to penetrate against a shot blocker. Fox did well driving and pulling up in the key, but we started settling for 3s or trying to drive directly into Gobert in the 4th.

Brown hopefully will have a different plan moving forward against these type of teams.

Hopefully we either get a team we match up well with or a team that Brown can out coach.

This season's Kings team is like an old Western gunslinger, who's been, for most of the season, outshooting everyone he meets. But that doesn't mean he is bulletproof, he has just yet to meet his match.

Not sure what it says about the current state of the team that I am more worried about getting through the first round than a) actually clinching or b) anything beyond that.

I think you’re right. That 6-7 game stretch where we played great defense was probably just a fluke. I think we can play much better on that end, but 72-73 games in… it’s not getting better than what it is now lol

Sorry, I ain’t buyin’ it. They’re mediocre at best.

Much of the 5-27 from 3 was just the KINGS missing shots they typically make.
I think they are "good" when they don't have KAT. I think they shot their future in the foot with the Gobert trade and everything they gave up. But this team when KAT isn't on the court is exactly the type of team we struggle most with.

I don't think I will single out Wolves scouting team, every team since our first winning streak had been giving us harder and harder tests. They are only going to get fooled by our last season's stats once.

Tonight is no difference, except Wolves are just so much longer in almost every position that gives us a much harder and physical test.

On the brightside I don't think the Kings need to be a top defensive team to win. They've shown once they get to that middle rung they're pretty darn unstoppable. The question now is how to get there every night? I still think more switch is the only way. They ran a lot of switch and pressure during that stretch of games. The help defensive scheme is what it is.

When you're playing in a deep competitive conference, all teams will be tough in the playoffs. Remember when the Kings were the 8th seed back in the day and took the 1 seed Lakers to the final game. This season has that kind of depth.
I do agree that any team could come out of the West at this point but there are definitely teams we match up well with and teams we don't, and a lot of that depends on who is healthy or not. Oddly I don't think it's that shocking we struggle with teams that don't have their stars because I think this team was built to beat the current favored style of play. When we wind up against a team's "scrubs" who might be more oriented around a bruising style of play, it really throws off our beautiful game.

Who do we match up well against?

Yeah, this is a conference of parity until if and when these big trades from teams like Mavs, Suns, and Lakers pay off. IF they pay off.
The good part for us is they need to pay off quickly while we are at least theoretically if health and smart GMing win the day, set up to hit our prime in another 2-3 seasons.

? Uhhh I don’t think we have the same definition of role players. We let each and everyone of their role players (non-stars) put up scoring stats higher than their season averages.

What does syntax matter when at the end of the day, losing = losing?

I feel like this is setting me up to tempt fate. I'm inclined to let our records speak for themselves against the rest of the West. But I do not want to play a team with a big bruising C that can bully and frustrate Domas and potentially put him in foul trouble early.
