You're "sure"? Why, exactly? It was reported all over that Monte attached a hefty price tag to the 4th pick if any team wanted to trade for it. Should he have bent over and taken less than the asset was worth just to satisfy your certainty? It was likewise reported that Detroit had significant interest in Keegan Murray and may have been targeting Murray rather than Ivey with their pick. Unless Detroit was going to be Monte's trading partner, there was a chance that Murray would no longer be on the board if the Kings traded back. If you can't appreciably improve upon your talent level by trading on draft day, it's better to just take your guy and go home after you've invested your time scouting him to determine if he is BPA, which we already know is Monte's MO.

Bagley was a massive upside swing that we took over the high floor guy. This is the total opposite situation. Just have to hope it works out.

This may be true. And of course everything is speculation. But based on speculation and everything 80% of mdedia and even the people on the board talked about just last night was about getting more for the pick and the ivey hype. Everything is speculation but yes I was expecting a deal to get more and if Detroit picked Murray we still had Ivey. Unless you think Murray is that game changer?

Agreed. that was my fear with Ivey as well. Athleticism is a great attribute, but clearly there’s much more to the equation.
