KINGS PICKING 4TH IN 2022 NBA DRAFT!

If OKC wants Ivey then you don’t wait. You and OKC make a deal that gets you Smith at 2 and Ivey for them at 4. Given the fit of Smith with the Kings I move next years first if I am Monte.
That’s assuming Chet goes #1 which is far from a given. If Smith is there ar #2 would the OKC even entertain a trade then?

There are a LOT more moving parts in the equation than just simply trading up.

It’s only natural that he gets drafted to the same team as his father did! :D;)
Oh that's insanely interesting. Thinking that trade up to OKC rumor has more and more legs by the day. Seems like there's almost no chance he'd fall to 4 naturally out of any prospect in this draft and I don't think his camp would let him work out with the #4 team for no reason. Happens every year where the elite prospects don't work out past their draft range.

Could just be a draft board thing. Chet not a lock, but these guys all talk to each other. If everyone knows Chet is going #1 and Ivey is #2 on the OKC big board...while if they know Paolo is locked to HOU at 3 over Ivey.... then why wouldn't Presti trade down, hold Jabari ransom for a future FRP with the worst organization in the NBA over the last 16 years and OKC still gets their #2 prospect anyway?

I like Chet's ceiling a bit more, so he's my #1, but there's no doubt Jabari is worth the trade up as well. Whatever the price they want, you take it.

Yeah, pretty safe to say he’s the consensus best pick / fit for the Kings. This would immediately give us our big three and I wouldn’t fuss about next years pick.
Also, why go to Sacramento assuming it’s true, certainly not an airport layover for the top 3 picks.

I just get the feeling Ivey is higher on OKC's draft board than Smith Jr.

The fact that Presti dangled SGA as trade bait last year makes me think he's not committed to building around him. If so, Ivey and Giddey are an interesting match and you have a war chest of future picks and whatever you can get for SGA to build around them.

Presti originated the process (the idea you tank and acquire draft assets to maximize your chance at finding stars via the draft). While I think Jabari’s potential ceiling has been getting vastly understated (dude is only a couple of weeks older than Shaedon Sharpe and already an elite shooter) it’s not hard to see how Presti could value the downhill ability of Ivey or the wing Scoring ability of Sharpe more than a current 3-and-D forward with the potential to become more.

By that same token, I think there’s a good chance OKC might have Paulo higher on their board than Jabari.

I think the players that help us the most for next season are:

1) Chet- he improved our interior defense dramatically and if we are a top 18 defense we will have a good (by our standards) season

2) Jabari- his elite shooting and versatility on defense would have an immediate impact

3) Keegan- he will accept any role asked of him, a “zero maintenance” type guy who can give you 20 points or just play defense and hit threes.

With the caveat that dudes can get more athletic with training, I don’t see an Uber athlete. I see an above average athlete, but not game changing stuff like Anthony Edwards or Benn Mathurin.

I like the shot. The stop n pop. The defense and physicality. N the size as well. Handle looks a little loose. N that first step is nice, but not sudden. Honestly, looks like a three rather than a two. First glance, I see more Klay Thompson than a future elite #2.

From that film, he looks like he has that "lazy" athleticism where it doesn't really look like he's trying and moving in slow motion, but still manages to get wherever he wants on the court and get his shot up at any time. It's like that Paul Pierce, Luka Doncic, James Harden type of movement.

Whereas Ivey is far more in the Rose/Westy/Ja type of explosive/physical athleticism. They let you know they're coming.

Yeah, I think the kid’s a 3 rather than a 2 once he grows into his body. Shaedon’s outside game is really what entices me more than anything else about him. It’s unfortunate we don’t have any workable shooting splits for him because I would feel very comfortable taking him at 4 if he was anywhere near the high 30s from the perimeter (especially with how deep some of the shots he was taking are).
Considering the general weakness of this draft class (and the fact I am nowhere near as high on Ivey as a lot of other people seem to be), getting a Klay Thompson out of this draft class would be a major victory in my eyes.

Harden was my #1 biggest projection miss. I didn’t think he should be a high level pick. What I missed was the physicality and the ability to dribble the ball at different angles and height to get to where he wanted to, at his speed. I don’t know if Sharpe has that, because he‘s playing against hs kids, but if he does, he has a chance to be elite.

I get the Ivey love, because dude pops on film. But having watched him, I wouldnt take him at 4. I hope Banchero drops, but even if he doesn’t, I’m more than comfortable with the Kings options. And preferably, the Kings trade down and grab two of the following: Daniels, Dieng, n/or Mathurin.

Re: Shaedon Sharpe Twitter vid Notice how effortlessly Sharpe shoots from deep with high release. Confident flick of wrist on many shots with deadly step back as well. Sensational hops scoring way above the rim and blocks on defensive end. Ivey is fast for sure but shoots with much lower, slower hoist to get off his deep shot. Sharpe looks more polished in many ways. To be continued.

Yes. He's a smooth player. Sometimes mistaken for laziness or half effort.

Hall of Famer
Ivey’s defensive numbers are terrible.
We suck defensively
We just hired a defensive oriented head coach
I don’t think Ivey is going to be the pick but we sure are going to act like he’s the pick

After having multiple stars in the team, success in the nba seems to be dependent on having several high performing wings
Kings have been deficient in the wings department for years now
We will have several choices at high level wings at pick 4
I don’t think Ivey is going to be the pick but we sure are going to act like he’s the pick.

Will we be drafting to replace Barnes production, given he will be in the last year of his contract? I'm guessing that Murray will be the pick unless we can entice another team to trade their entire future to us for Ivey.
