A Fox-Sabonis core is ugly if 2-4 can't hit their shots. That's true for every team but it's extra debilitating with them.

In theory these other guys do fit in well now but I think we still needs upgrades at 2 and 4. Holiday and Harkless should be coming off the bench ideally. DDV I think can be a role playing starter at the 2 but Johnny Davis or Bennedict Mathurin could work wonders with this group. Other than that, I like Kendall Brown if you want a forward.

When you don't make shots and you refuse to drive into the lane on offense at the beginning of the game. It hurts you later on.....and if there is a big guy you don't want to take on it hurts you all game.

They need to find a balance in the meantime. Gentry going with the all or nothing Metu-Holmes bench frontline might need to be cut out unless the other guys are getting pounded and there's no other choice. They do miss Lamb already. They don't have many legit SG/SF types on the roster. Fox, Davion, and DDV are combo's and Holiday isn't comfortable handling and running an offense like Lamb is.

This is also why I wanted them to make a hard push for someone like Grant. Grant isn't great but he can get his own offense when you need it. The Kings need help for Fox on that.

Grant actually becomes a viable option for them now, but I'd wait until the draft to actually consider making moves for him.

Depending on the draft order, these are my realistic favorites for each possible position they could end up with.

1-2: Jabari Smith
3-4: Jaden Ivey
5-7: Johnny Davis
8-10: Bennedict Mathurin
11+: Kendall Brown

If we have the opportunity to get Jabari, then I'd hold off on trying to get Grant.

Yeah, this is why I was cool with putting top 4 protection on that pick. The Kings will probably be where they were last year anyway, and it gets pretty hit and miss around pick 10 as to whether or not they actually get something of enough value to land someone like Grant or whether they get someone that is actually going to make much of a difference next year. Plus the big salary/youth filler of Bagley to make a trade like that work is already in Detroit now. That means they'd have to want to take back someone like Holmes/filler or make it a multi-team trade.

Mitchell-DDV-Metu-Holmes is ridiculously good on D. I don't like Gentry running the subs without one of the "big 3" offensive core though. Seems unnecessary
Yeah hopefully that’s the last time he’ll try and experiment. That’s the downside to having a bunch of new toys for a coach to play with. Let’s stick with what was working, Coach. PLEASE!

Honestly, everyone kind of hates the depth in the draft this year but I don't have nearly the problem with it that everyone seems to have with it, especially compared to last year when basically everyone I liked was off the board by 9 so I was sour on Mitchell when they screwed themselves out of prospects again.

Other than TyTy (where I don't like the fit), Jalen Duren (no-offense rim protecting motor big in the lottery is stupid) and AJ Griffin (who I just don't like) I like most of these prospects. It thins out in the late lottery of course but even then I still like Brown, Eason, and Jovic.

Holmes continues to play horrible, Barnes had his worst game in a month and the 5 key role guys (Mitchell,Holiday,DDV,Harkless,Metu) shot 31% from 3. In addition to 2-10 from 3 for Barnes/Sabonis/Fox. The Gentry subs were again horrible and he just doesn't have a good grasp of handle the new roster yet.

DDV is a clear starter, especially once his shooting regresses to normal levels. He's a glove fit with Fox/Sabonis on both ends of the court and pretty much the only time the Kings looked passable tonight was when he was in the game. Dude was a +9 in his 26 minutes in a game we lost by 24. The shooting has to regress back to 35-37% of course, but it's pretty clear he's Monte's guy after looking to acquire him for 2 seasons.

I think DDV is a starter too and I still think the 4 (or 3 depending on what you wanna call Barnes) is a much more pressing need.

But I can't say no to Davis or Mathurin or even Ivey if you buy him as a 2 and I have them all higher on my board than Brown or Keegan Murray. Mathurin I think might be the absolute best fit of the bunch while being a more NBA-ready prospect than Brown, and still being a very good upside prospect.

Yeah, Mathurin is one of my favorites for sure. He'd be an incredible plug and play with DDV on the wing. I need to look more into Johnny Davis as I usually shy away from the ball-dominant guard types that aren't great shooters or great athletes. If you remove the role, can he still be impactful? But the shot creation is probably the best in the draft, can't deny that.

Can I get a "Duh" for $200 Alex?

Can honestly add Barnes to this list. Inexcusable we're having long stretches where one of the three at least isn't on the floor.
If only there is was something he could’ve done to make that happen. Did the refs order him to sit Fox and Domas for basically the entire last half of the third?

He's more of an upside pick for me if they stay at 5 or 6; certainly I don't believe he's a perfect fit like Mathurin is but I think he's a functional fit with some serious upside.

I'd call him potentially a souped-up DDV, who fits well enough on this squad. Pesky, physical defender and a very strong rebounder at the guard spot, passable shot but not necessarily lights out with some added shot creation without having to be the lead guard or ballhandler.
