Kings trade Tyrese and Buddy for Sabonis and Holiday and Lamb

It's going to work...for Vivek and McNair. The Kings fan base is not clamoring to make the play offs. Only Vivek and McNair are clamoring for that. Desperate fools. They're going to trade for Grant and this team will end up treadmilling for 5 years. Enjoy those first round exits. I hope the Kings go bankrupt.
Are we really acting like Kings fans wouldn‘t support the team if they somehow got into the postseason this year?

I mean I've put it out there that Kings are my longest standing way of feeling connected to "home". If Marie Kondo were in charge we'd have a big fight about why I keep them. I'm also intent to be here for the big payday parade.
My question was more along the lines of, why can't the message board itself provide that for you?

That's what Vivek and Monte are banking on. The odds are on their side that this team will make the playoffs the next few years, but I would love it if this blew up in their faces and the Kings bleed. I'm so annoyed by this move.

From a Pacer fan on wrasslin’ board I go to.

The worst part about the Kings deal is getting Jeremy Lamb and Justin Holiday.

Lamb was, easily, the worst player on the team. Guy couldn't be motivated to do anything and it was baffling to see him get meaningful time as a result. Meanwhile, Justin Holiday is opposed to vaccinations and has stated he will continue to refuse getting any COVID shots. However, in California, they're pretty restrictive on COVID due to the large population, so a guy who doesn't want to get the vaccine ain't playing (or at least is gonna have to deal with a lot of hassles). And while Lamb is gone after this season, the Kings are stuck footing $6 million on Holiday until 2023.

Not trying to sound mean or rude or anything but are you sure you’re even a Kings fan at this point? Just legitimately wondering.
because I’m still pissed at the Kings for ruining the Boogie core but I absolutely would be first in line to cheer on the Kings if they even start sniffing the postseason.

It may never work out, but why are so many fans behaving like trading minimal assets for a 25-year-old all-star is going to lock the Kings in some kind of purgatory? They didn't trade for the tail end of some overrated star's prime.

My wallet says I am. I'm not season ticket holder, I've averaged probably around $3k to $5k the last few years on going to games. I'm not spending another dime on this team until the Monte stank is gone.

I've been clear that the value is fine. I'm high on Sabonis.

If the issue was keeping Hali and tanking or trading Hali, the answer is simple.

I think you plug in Davion at the other guard slot. My guess is a big part of making this deal is they believe that Mitchell starting full-time can give you similar impact that you got from Hali (in different ways obviously). PJ would obviously be a huge get and I think a flawless fit with Sabonis and Fox with his spacing and defense. Holiday and Lamb are actually good players and reasonable fixes in the short-term to plug in at the wing spot. I kind of hope we take advantage of the Lamb expiring though and flip him.

I'm not sure what wing fix you can get for Barnes, but I still wouldn't rule out some "future" assets for him to help restock after losing Hali. I think you actively try to shop Len and Bagley as well.
as long as we keep superstar Metu we’ll be good

Haliburton is seen as the cornerstone of a franchise now? So, when if and when we ever trade Fox, I’m sure he’ll suddenly be seen as the next James Harden and the Kings will be the dumbest team in the league, blah blah blah all over again. Hilarious! The national media is a joke.

I don't even disagree. But again, behaving as if this move will damn the Kings for the foreseeable future is just craziness. Fans are jumping off ledges after the Kings acquired a young all-star while only having to sacrifice a single asset of note.

Man, I hate seeing Hali go, but we got a really fundamental Big back. Sabonis reminds me of watching TIm Duncan play with a 3 point shot. The best part of this trade is not watching Buddy Heild turnover the ball, or let people fly by him on defense.
Sabonis shoots 32.4% from 3.

The national media has actually been fairly positive about this trade. It’s Kings fans who are trashing it.

KB02 is just very into his own line of thinking being the only correct way. We'll just leave it at that.

I'm speaking for myself. It's not like this move is all that surprising. I gave it 2/3 odds that Monte would trade for Turner and Grant. It looks like it's going to be Sabonis and Grant. I've been on the record that I would've hated trading for Turner and Grant. That was with the assumption that Hali and Fox would remain with the Kings. Trading Hali to get Sabonis and Grant is a deal breaker. It's desperation. Fu*k Monte and Vivek. I hope this team bleeds into bankruptcy and one of the private equity firms take over.
