Trade Deadline Thread

I don't see the Pelicans dealing BI for Fox, but if that's there you have to pursue it.

If you want a "we're not tanking, but yeah, we're kind of tanking" trade:

Fox and Woodard for Hart, Satoransky, Jones and a protected FRP.

Satoransky is just an ender but Hart and Jones would fit well in a rebuild focused around Haliburton (and to a lesser extent Mitchell) and you're accumulating another first round pick.
I'd want 2 picks for Fox. Top 3 protected this year and next years can have more protection. Then either one of Jones or Murphy, plus whatever filler they want for salary. You could maybe persuade me with Hart since he's having a career year but if the Pels want a Fox, Ingram, and Zion core, then they're going to have to pay for it. They can have Harkless too because that team is going to need defenders badly.

I definitely think he's more attainable than Sabonis, especially since we want to keep Fox and Hali. You can't deny that's a pretty dynamic trio right there. PnR with either guard and Randle is pretty potent. He can also face up, has a decent outside shot, and can run in transition.
What would we be giving them then… Randle had one good year his contract season and he’s back to what he was now after getting paid

Honestly pretty reasonable deal for both sides. Kings get a few interesting wing prospects, 2 FRP to restock the warchest. Pelicans buy low on the Fox down year and cash in their rebuild assets around a Fox/Ingram/Zion core.

Hali, Mitchell, 2 lotto picks, Herb, Murphy is a good start. Add to whatever you could get for Barnes/Holmes/Buddy and now we're talking.

Ugh. It's not going to happen, but this could be built up so easily if we were willing to turn it over to the youth for 2 years and suck.

i can’t put into words just how pissed I’d be if that’s a deal they made. Unless that’s a top 3 pick then absolutely not

Yep. If the Kings can finish with the 5th worst record, they'll have about a 45% chance of getting into the top 4. Get into the top 4 and if they can come away with say Ivey to replace Fox and a wing like Keegan Murray/AJ Griffin with the Pels pick around 9th or so, then they could be in business in a couple years. Play the young guys, suck the year after, nab another top 5 pick and with 2 of those 3 picks being the right choices, they could be off and running like the Cavs and Grizz. You'd have Hali in his prime and the young guys coming into their own.

One potential hiccup... the Pels only have their pick if it's in the lottery. The way the west is looking this year, and knowing the luck this franchise has, they just might be able to sneak into the playoffs. If they do, their first goes to Charlotte. So then we roll the dice on their Lakers pick and the Pels 2024 pick?

That Lakers pick is also viably a lotto pick though and that's even before taking Lebron's knee issues into consideration.

Nothing is certain in life but death, taxes, and Danny Ainge trying to trade trash for Harrison Barnes.
To bad Ainge is no longer with Celtics and last years deal in retrospect would have been outstanding unless you wouldn’t have wanted Wagner or better your choice of Kuminga, Barnes, Giddey and Wagner.

Don't think we need any more evidence to know that Hali, Fox, and Mitchell ain't going to work. One of the three needs to go.
you could have (should have) seen that before the season started. If you need to wait until it’s blatantly obvious to the would you probably shouldn’t be a GM.

Unless he's moved in a deal that brings back Sabonis or Simmons, I don't see many other good options. Maybe to New Orleans for picks and players?
Yea, I'd prefer young and future assets if it's not Simmons or Sabonis. If it's NO, I doubt they'll trade BI or Zion. I do remember Monte was interested in Jonas and Hart. So maybe Fox + Thompson for Jonas, Hart, Murphy, Hayes, and a first.

The question is who will be the buyer, I assume Knicks, Pels or Pacers. So no much places he can go.
NYK and NO for sure. I don't know if Indy does. Though I think Fox would become an all star, if he plays under Carlisle. Well, he'll either become an all star or that relationship will blow up in a ball of flames. Carlisle is demanding. Fox really needs that. He's in year 5 and Mitchell is better operating the PG spot than him.

If they were certain on the Mitchell Haliburton backcourt and were dead set on trading Fox they could do worse than Randle I suppose. I’d need their first rounder though.

Mitchell
Hali
?
Randle
?

can’t really pair Randle and Holmes and it appears Barnes is likely gone.

I guess the good news is we would be likely to have a top 7-8 pick and a mid rounder to play with. I dunno

I think the Pels like the fit of Valanciunis next to Zion, especially since he's started to hit from outside at a good clip, albeit on low volume. I think the Pelicans have to be looking at Milwaukee and Giannis as a model of how to build around Williamson, assuming he's able to come back to the same level and stay healthy. Valanciunis isn't Brooke Lopez, but he can fill that role a bit. Traditional big who can hit from outside but can also be pulled to let Zion be a smallball five depending on matchups.

I'd also love to pry Herb Jones away (I think he'd be a great fit with Haliburton and Mitchell) but I don't know if the Pels would let him go in a Fox deal.

I don't see the Knicks including their pick (even with top 4 protection) in a Fox/Randle swap. That said, as much as I don't like the idea of a deal for Randle, getting another lottery pick would lessen some of the sting for me, if it were actually offered.
