The only thing I can think is that the assistant all animated while drawing it up on the sidelines was calling for a 3 to win it. I can see the point but you've gotta take the easy one.
That was essentially the same exact play design as the Metu game winner against the Mavs except Barnes was in the Fox slot and Haliburton was in the same decoy slot. The problem is Hali had to come all the way from the back to get the ball and once he got the ball he panicked for the first time all game and passed the ball instead of taking the open shot himself (The perfect Ben Simmons tribute).
I think they're stupid for not taking Fox if that was an offer. They need to ditch that motion crap and start running pick and roll down other teams throats like everybody else.
Good game. I’ll take the Lin though. Hali and Mitchell are the future. The RealGM 76ers board is sure salivating over Hali. Though I have always said that trading Hali for Simmons is a non-starter. Fox on the other hand? Go get Sabonis for him, Monte. Ticktock.

either trade was a straight steal imo. The Ty and picks trade being the bigger one. Morey either will look like a genius or get destroyed in Philly with what happens to Simmons

Feels like that ship has sailed with the Pacers looking like they're content to tank the rest of this season and punt any moves to the offseason. The more prudent move right now might be sitting Fox for the next several dozen games to make sure his "ankle injury" is healthy and dump whatever older players we can and do a T-Wolves-style half-tank.
As much as I love Morey, if he holds Simmons and they don't at least make a conference finals this year, I think i'd seriously consider bouncing him. You have Joel Embiid smack dab in the middle of his prime playing like a top 3 player and on a super short list for MVP candidates. Wasting his season is so so dumb to me, especially him being a 7'0 footer nearing 11,000 minute played with serious previous injury issues. I don't really think there's a clear favorite to me either, just a bunch of really strong teams. An "80% of what Simmons is actually worth" return could easily vault the Sixers as a favorite.
