If this franchise was smart they would give their veterans rest days with minute restrictions at the end of the year to keep from winning meaningless games against smarter franchises.
They could have gone into next year with Fox, Haliburton, Scottie Barnes and a top 5 pick using this simple formula. Could have picked higher in the draft nearly every year by doing this.
Unfortunately this is not a smart franchise.
How long are you gonna keep spewing this nonsense? It’s tired. And LAZY. It’s certainly not smart, as you suggest.
It’s been pointed out ad nauseam that the KINGS could have built a contending team numerous times over the past 15 years had they just selected the right player where they stood.
They didn’t need top 3 position to do it. Even recently when they had a top 3 pick, they blew it!
Yet here you are lobbying over and over to abandon competitive integrity because you somehow think that bushleague tactic is going to amount to something.
Some of you don’t really understand competition, let alone integrity. Instead its, “how can I take advantage of a loophole” even if it lacks any and all professionalism and integrity.
Resting the teams best players and not fielding the best lineups possible is not how it should be done. Ever.
The KINGS are a business being sold to consumers. When you patron a business, you expect the best product and service they can provide at all times. A restaurant may not serve the best cup of coffee or breakfast you’ve ever had and the customer service may not win awards, but you expect that it be best they can offer.
What you’re proposing is NONE of that. And I’m certain contradicts with your attitude as a consumer most anywhere else.
Lastly, I doubt you‘re spending any money to see this team — and for good reason. But a lot of hard working folks are. The vast majority aren’t paying the exorbitant ticket prices to see the understudy rather than the star. Same goes for advertisers.
Put your best product out there. Always. Anything less is unethical and false advertising. Period, end of story.
Lastly, I’ll say one last time. Higher draft picks don’t guarantee success. If this franchise is a dumb as you say they are (and they have been to this point in time) then they’ll miss with whatever picks they have, no matter where they land. Just like they did when they selected Bagley.
So stop with the nonsense already. Because your tactic is no ”smarter” than the team you’re criticizing.
