Because every team in the league needs at least 3 guards and the writing is already on the wall regarding trading Buddy. Who cares if a guy is 6'1 or 6'6 if the 6'6 player plays defense like a little league right fielder and the 6'1 guy's nickname is "off-night" I'll take the smaller player 10 times out of 10. Some of you would be over the moon if we drafted a 6'6 defensive stopper but drafting a 6'1 stopper is somehow a Kangz move? Naw. I'll take the best defender at any size and see what he can do. We didn't draft a backup, we improved our defensive rotation. I think I see what Monte is doing -- generally a team's defense isn't as good as their best defender, it's as good as their worst defender.
Uh, yeah? A 6'1" LeBron, how different is he? How about a 6'1" Jordan? Still great I'm sure but size does in fact matter and in looking at the playoffs those 6'6" to 6'8" guys? Yeah, they are the difference. That said, you can't look at this outside of the bubble of reality. The reality is you have 3 players more apt to guarding the 1-2 spots in a league where you need size to guard the middle of the pack between SG-PF.

The Dodgers just got Scherzer and Trae Turner, I’m kind of checked out and gut punched now.
YEAH!!!!

Not to derail the thread, but since you brought it up……….. YEAH!

I’ve been hoping for Mad Max since last season. But Trae Turner too???? That kid can play!

Honestly, I’m amazed LAD are within 3 games of the best record in baseball given all the injuries and subpar play from certain players. I always thought they’d surpass SF before all 162 were played and Seager, Betts, Graterol, Knebel, and Kelly all returned healthy.

But if this really goes through — I’ll be as confident as can be.

I’m not displeased by the Davion Mitchell pick at all. Surprised yes. Mitchell is absolutely a top 10 pick and not a teach at all. It just happens that our 3 best players now are all PG’s.

Maybe they can play the 3 guard lineup for stretches…..who knows.

But Monte has to go get some wings, full sized wings

There were larger defenders available that could shoot. Pick makes no sense at all next to our two best young players.

Hope Vivek is looking for his next GM. I still say they just let us fans pick through a vote. We are so much better than these clowns at this.

It's just highlights, but man this kid looks like a mini Artest on defense
No doubt, but Artest not being mini was one of his biggest strengths. Marcus Smart is a comp but Marcus is big and long enough to guard some 3's. If you are looking at things defensively physical makeup is HUUUUGE as to where you fit.

Dodgers fans are automatically blocked

It was a matter of time. Start with collecting all the centers. Then all the SG's. Now, all the combo G's. haha.

No money, no real trade assets. So...what's Glenn Robinson 3 doing these days?

I'm not going to post everything I wrote in the draft threads again but you're talking about scorers and I'm talking about defenders. Kevin Durant just called Jrue Holiday the toughest defender in the league at any position. Size and strength mattered a lot more on defense when you didn't get called for a foul just by being in the same zip code when a shot attempt is made. What matters now is defending the three point line not stopping drives to the basket and you do that with your feet and your intelligence not with the top of your head.
