Thoughts about the Kings and their off court activities

#1
Hi all,

I am currently working on a research project where I want to investigate in how far fans of the Kings feel attached to the team and what you think about the sustainability activities of the Kings.
On the one hand, I would like to know if you know about the sustainability activities of the Kings (e.g. that 90 Percent of Food and Beverages Locally Sourced within 150 Miles and that they established the Nation’s Preeminent Farm-to-Fork Arena; or that they are part of the Green Sports Alliance)? And what do you think about them?

Further, I would also like to ask if you would participate in a questionnaire for a university research project regarding the topic I mentioned above which you can find under the following link:
https://tummgmt.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7QbXft2m1xd3a06

Looking forward to your thoughts and responses. To make that clear, data will be anonymised and treated confidential. I would also be happy to share my findings with you later.
Best regards,
Lennart

Would also be open to explain more about the research project and goals behind it or say something to myself if you want to have some additional informations before!
Wish you the best, Lennart

This is short reminder for my research project. Would be really happy if some of you (who may wanted to fill it out) could have a look at my questionnaire and share some time to fill it out. I would be happy to share my findings with you later here in the forum! Best wishes, Lennart

Completed your questionnaire. It was fun. Brought back some memories (used to work in an undergrad cog sci lab where I administered tests).

Think I have a general idea of what you're measuring. Results will be interesting. My only critique is the income variable should probably be adjusted--this assumes your population is larger than Sacramento (lolzzz). We live in California where incomes skew higher than the national average. A person making six figures in CA is not living large like a person making the same amount in the midwest.

Another question that you may want include is whether spouse's impact the participant's perception of pro-environment foods. My wife and I are on opposite ends of the spectrum--food is food to me while we (she) have three food subscriptions (sourced from local producers; healthy). So in theory, I could've answered yes for all of the have I undertaken a pro-environment diet questions (but kept it to me only).

Thanks for filling it out. I also looking forward to analyze and share my results!

Okay, that is a good point (to be honest I did not think about that in detail). Thanks for the feedback I will keep that in mind.

So I participated, but I have to say 60% of the questions were worded in a way that make agree with an assertion, so it invalidates the answers. Most of those I just put the middle answer.

it seems like your assertion that eating a vegan diet is somehow better for the environment.

speaking of, what are your thoughts on this?

we need have a symbiotic relationship between animals and plants. Modern farming (both land and animal) is extremely environmentally unfriendly, but reducing cattle to increase produce is a bad idea.

We could have a 20 page discussion on this, but the battle to feed billions cheaply with industrial farming is causing us yo be fat and ruining our soil.

These vegan studies have been predominantly sponsored by PETA which isn’t exactly a non biased organization.

so growing artificial meat in a lab is not only not beneficial to our nutritional deficiencies but on top of that is supposed to solve America's obesity problem?

At first, thanks for having a look and filling out the questionnaire. You are right that a vegan diet is not always more sustainable/environmental friendly and that we should look for different ways to live more environmental friendly (and not just ban meat). A good example of doing something different is the cooperation of the Kings with different local food suppliers - while you still can offer meat you do not need to import it from somewhere else in the world (and the local suppliers often also are certified - whereby it is not always clear if that is real good either).

Nevertheless, in general vegan/vegetarian diets have a lower impact on the environment (if you take a look at the product life cycle of different research studies) and it would be more difficult (and taking much more questions/time) to differentiate between food items in such a questionnaire - therefore I had to choose what to do/measure. And I also do not want to convert anyone or tell you what is right or wrong but just had to base my research question on current literature (sorry, for the inconvenience!).

Hey Ken, I completed this. Hope it helps. Not sure if it was your intention, but I answered the middle one on a lot of questions because it correlated best to "I don't know" or "I don't care"
Hi chief, thanks for filling it out. I appreciate that!
Yes, that is absolutely fine (especially as I decided to not give the answer possibilities/options you mentioned). I hope it did not bother you to not have such a option!

I didn't finish the survey because I don't like politics in my sports. I watch the KIngs because of basketball. Period! I could care less what you call the food in the arena as long as it tastes good.
I can absolutely understand your point and that you mainly care about sports. The sport is the reason why we all became fans and it is not about what the Kings are do next to basketball. Nevertheless, thanks for having a look at the questionnaire.

How are you conflating politics with his food questionnaire?
I'm not speaking for Bajaden but I would definitely say there is political undertones with the survey. There’s a environmental argument that the meat industry especially in terms of cattle is harmful. Excessive packaging also falls into that political environmental category. I am not saying good/bad either way. I will say extremes in this category either way (like many things) is not good.

All those poor plants screaming in agony as they are pulled from their homes and eaten. Just because you can't hear them scream in pain doesn't mean it doesn't exist. We just haven't discovered how to communicate with them.

Everything has political ramifications these days, I don't object one bit to what the Kings are doing but the food policy doesn't really move the needle for me, though I guess that is largely because I am unwilling to eat a vegan diet and attempts to ram it down my throat have never gone well - but I'm friends with lots of non-judgmental vegans. Sustainable packaging and locally produced are things I strive for when possible. Organic, my partner really likes but I don't personally notice a difference and think it's more of a marketing item than anything else. My food concerns largely revolve around over sweetening.

anywho, if you don't like it a survey is a good way to show it?

Oh dear lord some of your are effing insufferable. If you didn’t want to answer the survey or whatever, that’s fine. No need to deride the dude for putting it out there and asking for our help.

@LenPa Hope you still managed to get the data you needed.
I filled it out. Didn't have a problem with the politics. LenPa was upfront with me that there was inherent bias with the questions. What survey doesn't?

I also think that there should be a balance.
