goes back to teaching fundamentals from the high school days all the way to Duke. That wasn't an emphasis because he was able to use athletic ability to rebound the ball but that doesn't work in the NBA when players that are less athletic understand the basics.
He was babied by his stupid dad who ran his AAU team all around him. I think they won like 25% of their games. I think he played for 2-3 different HS teams? Coach shopping. Unfortunate he didn't come up the old school way as I imagine he'd be a lot closer to realizing his potential.

Doug keeps talking about moving the ball ... you know what the difference between the Warriors' sequence and the Kings'? All of them are camped at the 3 point line ready to shoot and then passing the ball, rather than our team where apparently only Buddy and Bjelica are allowed to attempt 3s. We keep driving into traffic and driving into traffic and driving into traffic or posting up and then wonder why we have no spacing.

Dude, that's everybody now though. It just is what it is. That will all change if and when they start calling the game like they did when players like Laimbeer and Oakley roamed the paint. It would put things into perspective for a lot of these guys.

that's a mentality that he has to reach on his own accord if he wants to be a 100 million dollar player

That's not entirely true - a lot of the elite talents come up on the same AAU teams and go to the elite prep basketball academies. There's competition and they are not as protected as Bagley was. It was one of the biggest concerns drafting him and I think its bearing our right now before our eyes.

GRINDBALL. haha. This new commentary duo is a little company line-ish but I'm sure Doug is seeing the exact same thing we're seeing in reality. Even the stats for the most part are playing to the identity of what you would expect with a Bagley/Holmes combo. Great on the O'boards. Bad in pace since most of a teams pace comes from half court efficiency and quick offense. Athletic and somewhat physical but zero spacing.
