Ummm end of regulation with 1,6 seconds left, Kings up by 2 and somehow a 6’11” got paired vs a 6’2” under the rim.....

That’s on Luke he got out played by Spoelstra

Tough loss to a very good Miami team. The Kings played with heart but came up short on a few key possessions - especially the defense on the last play of regulation. The result is very disappointing, but overall it was a good team effort on both ends of the floor - which is nice to see.

Being honest, but this KINGS team is one of the dumbest teams I can recall. Even the purported high IQ players like Bogdanovic and Bjelica aren't immune. Perhaps it's once someone puts on a KINGS jersey that they lose the ability to understand and play situational basketball.

Up 3 with around 30 seconds to play and Bjelica plays passive perimeter defense not coming close to closing out on an obvious 3 point attempt. And nobody can make the extra pass to ensure an open shot in a last second situation when the defense is going to be flying at them. I see other teams do it to the KINGS, but they rarely ever make correct decisions in the waning seconds.

WTF was up with the final possession of the game? Throw it to Bogdanovic have him stand with the ball for a couple seconds then make it up as you go? Looked like they had no idea what to do. And of course it ends up in an unforced turnover.

Lastly, going along with being 'dumb', this team gives up the easiest baskets I've ever seen. Especially when they're up a possession or two and trying to hold on. Sure, Bam Adebayo clearly pushed off on the play -- but still. It's a trend we've seen far too many times this season. The opponent not having to work very hard for a game tying or leading basket.

But regarding the Adebayo play, it's the kind of thing that has always driven me crazy about the NBA. Adebayo doesn't get called for the clear push right under the basket for the tying score, but Marvin Bagley gets called for it late in OT when he could have scored to take the lead.

It's always curious what they choose to call and what they don't. I never buy the 'they didn't see it' excuse. Both plays occurred in one-on-one situations near the basket and in plain view where 1 of the 3 officials would be.

Boneheaded and dumb play aside, a majority of these games are determined by the plays the officials choose to call and don't call. Case in point today, had they made the same call they made on Bagley on the Adebayo play, the KINGS win and never go to OT.

That said, I still contend this KINGS team is among the dumbest KINGS teams I can recall. They really are.

It's almost poetic how the game even got to overtime. They got him with the same lob play the Kings failed to run the last two last second attempts. They didn't run theirs for their SF though. And the Kings guard it with a PG.
you knew they were going to have BAM coming to the basket. I didn’t like the defensive alignment with no bigs by the basket. In either case, I don’t think Barnes should have switched there. But additionally, this roster lacks long switchable wings. Ariza and Joseph fit that description but they were both gone.

That's all on Walton. Should have had a big on Bam there.

he did. The problem was the small coming up and setting the screen on Bam. The Kings switched there where Barnes needed to fight through the screen.
Barnes messed up but Bam is still going to be able to push off him and finish over him the same way he did CoJo. Not as easily but it's still a high percentage attempt.

true but let’s be honest. We aren’t making the playoffs and that was an outstanding LIN. Bags for once didn’t play defense with his head up his a$$ and that LIN could mean 15-20% draft odds.
Oh I'm not thinking about the playoffs or anything like that. I'm thinking about how many years we have to put up with this guy coaching our team.

well part of the problem is so few long switchable wings. A good draft pick could help fix that. By the way I understated. That Lin could have meant +26% of a chance at top 4

Bam is a C/PF and should have a C/PF guarding him. Just an awful call by Walton. I don't know why you think Barnes or any other wing on Bam underneath the rim is an acceptable coaching decision. He has no idea how to use his own personnel and he won't know how to use anyone we draft either. He's cost us a few games this season by making the kinds of errors that no professional million dollar earning coach should ever make. The Kings will never have any type of success with this guy coaching the team. Not only are his in game decisions terrible but he's made the team worse in almost every category despite having more talent on the roster than last season.
