Buddy is his own worst enemy. Even Grant and Jerry were talking about his mistakes tonight. He is digging himself a hole he will not be able to get out of. At this rate, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the highest bidder for his game jersey tonight ends up burning it.

We've all seen at least four or five players furious with him at various times for boneheaded moves he makes on the court. This is going beyond the "scapegoating" of a player on the part of fans. It's not our fault (the fans) that his shot is erratic, his handles are poor, his court vision is myopic and his sense of entitlement is a big mistake.

One issue with quotes on twitter is they all tend to be clipped and taken completely out of their original context. I need to see video of this to know exactly what he's saying
While I agree with you, I think in this case someone (probably James Ham) asked a leading question like "How do you feel about the fans booing tonight?" Buddy walked right into it. I will try and find the clip.

Yet another nothing burger promulgated by Sacramento's sports media.
I agree...and disagree.

I think the media takes some kind of perverse delight in setting Buddy up to make some of these less than thoughtful comments. BUT Buddy hits himself in the head by answering. Does he really think he's above criticism and skepticism? He's the one who brought his extension drama to public scrutiny. He's the one who cannot seem to accept that he's not playing the game he needs to play night in and night out. If he has an agent, he needs to fire him and find one who will tell him to close his mouth and just do his job.

A little more info on Jon Wilson, the guy who made the provocative, out of context tweet:

@NBCSAuthentic
Producer |
@SFSU
BECA alum | $10 wine connoisseur | Grandpa’s boy | My doctor said I have wobbly knees

(That's from his Twitter profile)

I think he needs to be held accountable for his tweet, since the actual quote was much different than what he promoted. Kind of like a misleading headline... just there for the clicks.

I don’t use twitter but people who do should call him out on it. Maybe other media types cuz not only does it make them look bad as a whole, but the more it happens the less the players might talk to the media.

Within the full context, not as bad.

But Buddy mentioning fans was something that anyone could see coming a mile away. First it was Vlade not respecting his value, then it was the city not being able to get any FAs, then it was his coaches not trusting him, then it was his teammates not getting him his shots, and now the fans are coming onto his radar. It is the first not the last of his commentary on the fans. So get used to it. Dude has become a schizo version of JR Smith on the court n Terrell Owens off the court.

And here's how a more unbiased reporter (Jason Jones) reported on it:

I can't believe that I am, once again, supporting Jason Jones. He seems to really have stepped up his game since getting a gig at The Athletic.
The tweet from Jones provides context n balances the quote, but I wouldn’t say Jones is unbiased. He clearly has favorites and often throws out PR. Dude was Brandon Williams PR guy last year and he’s been spinning pro Buddy articles this year.

Each night the commentators have several digs against Hield. It makes watching another losing season almost bearable.

Last night's gem:
Grant: what was that?
Jerry: a bad miss. A bad shot results in a baaaad miss.

It's not what he said per say it's his whole attitude. Where is any responsibility? When is the last time he took credit for a loss? He's just immature. Oh and he sucks.

This discussion reminds me of a great quote"
"Basketball does not necessarily build character, it reveals it."

For a lot of players, the revealed character is something they can work on and improve their character, what kind of human beings they are. For some players, they never see the writing on the wall.

I saw Hield's interview and didn't think anything of it.

That said, the Kings need a starting two-guard of the future. I'm hoping that at the trade deadline Vlade can make a deal for one. For the pieces to fit, the Kings need to have more defense from a starting 2-guard. I'd trade some erratic offense for more certainty on defense, especially given the offensive promise of Fox and Bagley. If it's not at the trade deadline, then getting a starter of the future at the 2-guard position must occur in the summer.

Not what I heard at all in that interview. I heard him say that he understands the fans frustration and if they're not playing right, there will be frustration. Also that fans have a right to voice their opinion. I didn't hear him say he's above criticism.

I'm not even a Buddy fan, but you know the dislike towards him is getting out of hand when people think he should be waived. For all the negativity toward him right now that is earned (airing things out to the media, poor defense, horrible decision making on offense, regressed stats), he's still averaging 20ppg on 37% from 3. He's having the worst shooting year of his career and he's still shooting better than Devin Booker, DeAngelo Russell, Tobias Harris, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, and many others. You move him to the bench or you trade. You definitely do not just waive him.

If you want a guy traded, ***** and moan over social media and say how he's a horrible player and bad guy continuously. Eventually the guy will want out as much as the fans want him out. If I were Buddy, I'd want out. I might even want out if I'm Bagley.
