Free Agency Thread - 2018

So we're just a few Million from the salary floor I would prefer to keep our powder dry right now and maybe Bring back VC for another year of schooling.
I thought the floor was 90% of the cap, I think that is about 10 mil below the cap

If our cap space is 19.5, dont we need to at least spend 9.5 mil for the last two roster spots?

would put us at 92 mil total?

That's how I understood it but there is a first time for everything and I could be wrong.

Why because it's logical?
Why because he's talented?
Why because we can outbid milwaukee?

I know i know "we" see him as a pf, well thats a load of bs.

I think i like the old front office that leaked like the titanic. At least that way we were informed before the front office blew it (not after).
We need a small forward not power forward.

Breaking news: kings sign a shooting guard and not a small forward. :p

Vlade is doing it right. Sit tight and be patient. He has learned from past mistakes. Sacramento needs to be shrewed and not throw money at gambles. Patience will be rewarded with either a quality FA on the cheap or through a trade with a team desperate to shed some fat.
But if he is too patient we will run out of options. I agree don't make any dumb moves but no moves at all with our space is a dumb move. Stupid free agency season is always so stressful for kings fans. I'm happy vlade plugged up most of our leaks but I also hate not seeing anything in the rumor.

Something is absolutely better than nothing

Is that where we are as a fan base, applauding nothing happening over dumb moves?

This FA we need to get something done without the competition in cap

I want the big names but even settling for Smart/Anderson is better than not adding

Nothing sucks as a fan and to the tesm

No move is good move to me. Right now there's no one out there I would like Vlade to sign, especially if it means overpaying. We have cap space, great, doesn't mean we need to sign free agents we don't need. The best use we can do with our cap space is absorbing bad contracts along with draft picks. It can be done now, or even during the season.

If we are really desperate to make a move now, the only thing I would do is giving Capela a big offer and see what Houston or LA do. But, like I said, I'd rather get draft picks with our cap space.

Listen, we need assets. However we can get them. If they are duplicate or even triplicate pieces and they have value, we should get them. I don't love the idea of adding Lavine or Parker, but if we get them on salaries that aren't killers, we should get them.

If we cant get them, then we need to take on salary for other assets. Either a pick or a player on a rookie contract that has upside.

If we stay pat, then we are waiting for a salary dump before the season starts.

Except you know that those teams are going to keep making trades and restock their talent. It is an endless cycle

There will be ebbs and flows. Even teams restocking take time to build chemistry. If the Kings time it right they can be hitting their peak with whatever other teams there are on a similar incline currently.

The Kings can't just take on salary because they want to. It takes two to tango so if it doesn't happen we can't act like the deals were there for the taking and Vlade didn't jump on them. They probably just weren't available.

I applaud them so far for not signing guys and trying to play them out of position to force fill the holes in the roster. If nothing happens then nothing happens. I'll take that over the ZBo, Temple and Shumpert contracts taking up half the cap space. Not only do they take up cap space but they steal developmental time away from the young players. A team may get desperate at some point and give us some valuable pieces in exchange for cap room. I'm not counting on it but it's possible.

I disagree. We were a 27 win team last season. Standing pat is not what we should do especially with no pick next year. There is no incentive to lose (which I'm ecstatic for since there will be no lin/woss threads). Sooner or later this team needs to starting winning. Well who wants to squeek into the playoffs and get swept? I do. It's a sign of us turning it around. We aren't going to go from 27 wins to 50 wins in a season. Just increase our wins in steps. 5-10 wins next season, .500 the following and so on. We can't start that by just doing nothing.

I am confused and perplexed and have no idea what’s going on.
It seems that every year all the best star players never talk about coming here unless it’s to gain leverage on a better deal from someone else.
If it’s going to be like last year and sign players no other team really wants to pay we will end up like last years roster.

I think we only have a few choices and its going to be build from the draft or hope someone is willing to let us have a star player on a salary dump.

Why so impatient? There aren't any realistic targets out there that are going to add 5-10 wins to the Kings. They are still developing all the young guys. Instead of concentrating on wins and losses, it's better to concentrate on player development.

Will Buddy put up over 15ppg? Can Bogs put up 15ppg after finally getting a rest? Will Bagley be a double double machine? Will Giles show flashes of the player he once was? Will JJ start knocking down his shots? Will Fox improve his shot and play making abilities? Will Skal become a useful stretch 4 type player? Can Frank Mason cement a place in the league and finish at the rim more consistently?

There is a ton of stuff that needs to happen before the Kings can start winning. They could get a veteran PG and SF and start a bunch of old guys and possibly get 33 wins or so but what's the point in that? I think most Kings fans are aware enough to realize that if these young players don't go, the Kings don't go. If they can't improve with this core then it really doesn't matter who they sign because it'll be a failure either way.

buddy's career high is 30.. bogdan 25.... rodney hood once dropped 30 in the first half of an NBa game.....

and would've had an easy 50 but it was a major blowout and quinn snyder called off the dogs early.

Why do you like posting a players career high everyone has a career high and look good in it

There are a lot of questions for sure. However most of them revolve around whether they will be allowed too or not. I think it's very obvious the first two on your list could have happened last year if allowed. In order for it to occur they have to ditch the team killing 11 man platoon rotations and commit to someone.

I see Skal. I see Harry. I see Marvin. I see no minutes for another 4 unless that player can play SF too. Heck even if someone is getting cut out somewhere. This is assuming Zbo never sees the floor.
