2018 Draft - the morning after (split)

Your basing your opinion on "feelings" and "vibes" What about facts, evidence and reason? Jerry Reynolds said Bagley reminds him of young KG with his mobility and explosiveness around the rim. David Robinson was effusive, saying he reminds him of a young Duncan with his poise. Most young bigs rush down low. Bagley refuse to be sped up. Coach K said Bagley is the best big he has had in 38 years. This is more significant than your "vibes".
Whoa. I didn’t know coach K said that

Overall pretty happy with the outcome of the draft.

I have been vocal in wanting the Kings to swing for the fences and try and hit a home run in getting a perennial all-star talent.

Is Bagley perennial all-star out of the gate?! No! Does he have the talent and the work ethic to get there at some point? I think he does? Is it guaranteed?! No it isn’t!

We were always trading away the 2nd round pick. Look at the make up of our roster. We have more young players than you can poke a stick at. We need to give these guys enough minutes so that they can develop. Veterans will also play and provide guidance like they did this season.

I am excited by what we can be seeing in a couple of years time from the core of Fox, Buddy, Bogdanović, Bagley, Giles etc...

Use the cap space wisely, make a couple of solid trades and we could be well on the way!

Reading all these comments at least helps a little bit... I hope all of you who are excited by Bagley are right. Like I said, I really want to be wrong this time.
I will cheer forBagkey from day 1. I want him to become the best player from this draft. I absolutely don’t want him to fail just to be right, I’m not that kind of person.

I just know that we will get to see next Thursday night in the SL opener.....our first taste of Bagley and Giles together. Something tells me this is going to go better than the T Rob debut where the collective fan base went “ oh oh”.
you had me double-checking my calendar there ... SL is July 2-5, a week from Monday.

If you just project steady slight incremental gains for Bagley in certain areas like ball handling, using his off hand, shooting and defensive positioning he can handle 3 for sure. IDK why people are here making it sound so preposterous. It's well within his learning curve, I laugh at anyone who says otherwise.

I think this is a bad pick. I was excited for the Kings to add Doncic but really have no clue what they are doing with this.

Not a fan.
Your team didn't want him so you tried to pawn him off to us? 0 for 2. :p When Luka took the stage he was barely taller than Adam Silver. Maybe this why it was hard to come by his vital measurements pre-draft. He's probably closer to 6'6.5 without shoes or 6'6" and listed as 6'8" with shoes. For the Mavs sake, they better hope he's not done growing but he probably is.

He is clearly 4-4.5 inches taller than Silver and Google tells me Adam is 6’3

One thing in retrospect I did notice when you watch whole games of Luka's, is that quite a few of the other players on the Euro league teams have similar court vision, passing and ball handling as Luka.

Granted these players are all older veterans, but I was amazed that Luka wasn't the only player on his team passing the ball with good court vision and on spot dimes.

I wonder if Vlade's understanding that Luka's court vision is fairly common in Euro League and may not translate as much in the NBA, since other Euro veterans with similar court vision didn't make it in the NBA, i.e. Rudy Fernandez, sealed his decision to take Bagley.

Luka was all aged based. Basically no other players had what he had at 19. They might have had it at 24 but the whole point in Luka is if he's got all this at 19, just think of what he can be in 5 years?

Rubio had slightly better passing chops at the same age but was a much worse shooter. Other players like Hezonja could shoot the ball but not a whole lot else. Luka was the complete package over there. He was sort of like how Donovan Mitchell came into the NBA and opened everyone's eyes. He wasn't the best player in the league but you were probably like man if this guy is able to do this his rookie year, just think of what he's going to be capable of in 5? That's how Luka is viewed over there.

I think most people share your thoughts on Luka, which is why everyone wasn't on board with him. Even his biggest fans still most likely had that pit in their stomach making them think what if he just isn't anything special and only looked good against inferior athleticism? I know I thought that for sure but I was willing to roll the dice because his upside is just too big to pass up.

People are also forgetting that Vlade just got burned on a young prospect who was a little pudgy, and not quite quick footed, but had arguably some good talent and size. If you squinted really hard, you could just imagine him turning into something with lots of hard work in the weight room, an NBA diet and some experience. Papagiannis.

I know Luka is way more talented, but the fact is Papa G was a European player that wasn't really athletic and a bit overweight. Maybe Vlade viewed it safer to find an athletic player and mold his skillset than it is to find a skilled player and hope he gets more athletic.
