If there's anyone to be mad at over the win in Lakerland its Julius Randle for inexplicably bricking like a billion free throws. The Lakers flat out sucked harder than our team of G-League callups. Which would be kindof sad if it weren't the Lakers. Ball and Ingram getting injured meant we needed big games from Kuzma and Randle to save us from ourselves and they couldn't hack it. Not much we could have done differently in this one. At some point the other team has to reach out and take it and the Lakers wanted nothing to do with that win which should have been a walk in the park for them. I wouldn't put it past them to throw the game and hurt our draft position. Division rivals and all that. Same reason why I can't stand Phoenix faking injuries to finish with the worst record. If you throw out the first half of the season, Josh Jackson would be in the running for RoY and they also have Mr. 70 point game Devin Booker. That's going to be a hell of a one-two punch for the next 10 years along with whoever they add this year.

You're really going to pick that hill to take your stand?
No, this was a throwaway example since we were debating whether our situation with Cousins was the fault of him or the FO. The details of my point weren't important, it was merely an example.

I'm sorry, DD, but even I - one of the ultimate DMC proponents - think the best thing this franchise did was finally pull the plug and let DMC go. You can try to rewrite history all you like but he was NOT ever going to succeed here. Too much had happened, too many bridges had been burnt. Yes, he loved Sacramento but it wasn't a healthy kind of love. In New Orleans, he's finding his stride and will reach a much higher plateau than he ever would have here.
I partially agree. Cuz wasn't perfect here but the FO is far more at fault. You may be right that he wouldn't have succeeded here due to everything that happened, but my point is that most of that was due to FO incompetency (GP, PDA and a rookie GM in Vlade). I don't think I'm rewriting history either, I think I'm being objective. This is exactly how I felt at the time. I agree with you this isn't about Cousins (I didn't bring him up) so I will stop mentioning him, as it's not conductive to good discussion at this point.

But you know what? This thread isn't about DMC. It's about keeping track of the teams battling for the bottom of the standings to get to the top of the lottery.
Agreed. :)

Every post of your seems to be angry. I'm sorry but there's been a crapload of that this year around here. Maybe take a couple of deep breaths and relax a bit? The team is gonna do what the team is gonna do whether you have a stroke or not. ;)
You're making a good point. I think I've been letting personal issues affect my tone while posting (although I have always had a blunt posting style!). I'll make a better effort to reign it in and keep the discussion friendly. :) We don't always have to agree but we can all at least post in a positive tone.

Great attitude and response. We are going to draft Bridges, continue to get better, and have some fun along the way. It is almost entirely out of our hands at this point. We fought the good fight to keep the team here, we go out to the games and cheer our hearts out. We engage fair weather fans and family members with why we are hopeful.

If these Baby Kings want to take the next step, and become the next "Utah Jazz" of the NBA it is going to be all on them to want to be great. We can just keep doing what we are doing and support this team. This franchise has been one heck of a roller coaster. I am very hopeful and optimistic about the future. GO KINGS!!! VF21, I heart you, in a platonic, but also fanatic sense! ;-)

Suns defeat Kings in a classic. Its looking pretty good, with 3 games to go. Brooklyn still plays Chicago twice, I recon the Nets will try despite the Bulls 3 game winning streak.

No big shakeups on the Tankathon tonight, despite wins from Chicago, Dallas, and Phoenix. The Kings "survived" the Suns giving them not one but two wide-open threes to tie the game in the final seconds, keeping pace with the not-even-tanking Nets, who lost in far less dramatic fashion.

Wednesday features only four Lintenders in action, but one game looms fairly large as the Mavericks travel to Orlando. In this game, either the Mavs will pull into a tie with the Kings, or the Magic will come within one of that same tie, pulling even with the Mavs in the win column. Expect some garbage basketball out by Disneyworld tomorrow. In addition to this, the Hawks host the Heat and the Grizzlies go to the Big Easy, neither game holding anything more than a snowball's chance of meaning anything at all to the Kings.

So after tonight this is what is left:

Orlando
Charlotte
Toronto
Milwaukee
Washington

Dallas
Detroit
Philadelphia
Phoenix

Sacramento
Memphis
San Antonio
Houston

Brooklyn
Milwaukee
Chicago
Chicago
Boston

New York
Miami
Milwaukee
Clevland

Detroit
Still very possible for us to win 2 and end up in a large group at 27 wins

On the other hand, if we don't, and have some slight luck, we could get 6th with 26.

Assume that Phoenix, Memphis, Atlanta and Orlando can lin the rest of their games, and claim the top 4 spots. Dallas beats Phoenix and drops to 5th with 25. Kings beat Memphis and end with 26. Nets beat the Bulls twice, joining the Bulls and Knicks in the 27 tie. It could happen.

Orlando got the win in Wednesday's Battle of the Lintenders, which was probably not the best result for the Kings as it meant that Dallas got to remain one win behind Sacramento. The Hawks and the Grizzlies both lost big, and the Kings now can at best tie both for spots 2-3-4 in the lotto - presumably very soon the Kings will have a ceiling of the fourth slot.

However, their ceiling will remain that three-way tie for second for at least another day, as the scheduling gods decided to take it really light on the Tankathon on Thursday. Despite 6 games on the day, only the Nets, who travel to Milwaukee, are a part of the Tankathon. A win by the Nets would move the Kings into sole possession of the 6th lotto slot, for the time being.

Need the Nets to win 2 against Chi who will be fully tanking to stay in front of New York amd at worst tie the Nets. Would hate to end up at 7th due to a coin flip loss with the nets

If we lose to Memphis Friday, then I can see us tied with Magic and Mavs for 4,5,6 spot at the end, I could see Orlando beating Hornets @ home and Dallas beating Suns @ Home too... I can't see us winning games vs Rockets and Spurs (especially Spurs who will fight for play-off).

So play Cooley at point, Jakarr at SG, Fox at center, Bruno at PF and Hayes at SF against Memphis and we are good.

And not scared of Nets taking over our spot, Because Nets are gonna win at least one game vs Bulls that's for sure.

Id love to see tbis....play that lineup 48 mins....if we dont have the stomach to do this, then at LEAST rest BOGS....buddy seems to not be as good starting...then heavy mins to Coole Sampso Bruno Nigels....in 4th if close, feed cooley and sampson in the post for the offense

The last game of the year on the road and the Rockets will have clinched is not a gimme Lin. Expect the Rockets to be resting all their starters. That could easily be the win that puts us in a 4 way tie at 27. Bad luck with coin flips and we are drafting 9 or possibly 10.

With three games left our realistic range of picks goes from 5-10 which is a huge range.

I’m still worried about being 9th pre lotto. Wins over Memphis and a resting Houston are fully possible especially if we play Bogie.

The Kings are the only team that would still be playing Bogie. And the funny thing is the kid has been playing 3 years straight and could legitimately use some rest. You know when the off season starts he will be living in the gym working on his game.

I'd be shocked if we don't win at least 2 more games, possibly 3. 2 more will put us in a very disappointing position.

Let's hope Memphis and Houston beat us.

By the way, the level to which the likes of Dallas/Phoenix/Memphis etc are tanking is so outrageously obvious that I hope Silver punishes them seriously, and I don't mean a fine. It makes a mockery of the game. Tanking should be done by the FO, not the coaches and players. Of course tanking shouldn't be done at all, but it's a reality. How is the players/coaches willingly not competing in games not a serious violation?
