[Game] Kings v. Timberwolves - 2/27/17 - 7:30PT/10:30ET

Having a chance to pick a player that might have a fraction of the impact Boogie had isn't a future I look forward too.

I almost want this to crash and burn so badly that Grant admits he is/was wrong.
To be fair in 1981 Grant traded in his old 69 GTO for a brand new K car... bright future!

The star that couldn't even make us mediocre.
Some people miss the point that it might be better to be bad now than treadmilling

They don't seem to understand keeping picks, bottoming out, assets vrs the risk of a 200 mil contract for a player with on/off the court faults and gaining no significant assets over the coming years

It's just what can you do for me now

And some people miss the point that not everyone wants to sit at home and wait for the "better" that might not ever come. They don't seem to understand that some people like to take their families to games and have a good time.

It's a GAME, a SPORT, ENTERTAINMENT. For a lot of fans, that's why they spend the big bucks. They don't want to pay over $100 a seat to watch a bunch of guys lose.

I understand. But it's a situation that can go either way. And intelligent folks believe this is the better path for long term viability.

I'm not saying I even agree with it. I wasn't against keeping Cousins, espevialky if it meant giving him up for cheap

But, keeping him, treadmilling, investing 200 mil in a plodder etc. it's a fork in the road decision. And the team will suck now, that's the point.

I can relate.

I'm not sure where I stand as a Kings fan at this point.

I hated the trade and don't have much faith in this GM or front office to draft well and architect a rebuild but I want to root for it to happen.

But Grant's over the top Pollyanna approach in hopes of helping to justify the terrible Boogie trade makes it a bit more difficult.

It's disturbing that 90% of the rebounds Boogie got are 90% of the rebounds Willie doesn't get. It was easy to take for granted that Boogie would gobble up anything within 3-4 feet radius of the defensive glass. With Willie those balls are up for grabs and the opponents know it. Willie gets pushed out of the way like a feather and wherever the ball goes Willie seems to go in the opposite direction. He's like the anti Dennis Rodman! Buddy shows more fight as a rebounder than Willie. That's not good! The Wolves got 16 offensive boards tonight and that was big part of their win. Rebounding is anticipation, positioning and desire. You have to do your work early. You have to follow flight of the ball. You have to play angles. The good news is Skal shows these instincts. Papa doesn't, more in class of a Willie than Skal as rebounder. Having two bad rebounders and demon but skinny weak rebounder cannot give Vlade much confidence he can afford to trade Koufos this summer. Clearing boards is important especially for a low octane offense to get the fast break points. Perhaps the only thing that improved talent wise with the trade of Boogie would be ability to get out in transition. But thats not going to happen often enough if Willie keeps rebounding like a putz. 8 rebounds in last 62 minutes is bush league.

!!!!

We were a treadmilling mid-late lottery team. Literally the worst thing you can be in the NBA. And had we continued the way we were going with Cousins, we lose our pick in this incredibly deep draft. Things weren't going to change with Cousins. We have no pull in FA, were going to not have a pick in this year's deep draft and have some picks we're going to probably lose down the road here. We now have building blocks for the future.

Willie is almost unplayable on a winning team because in order to have him out there you need another non stretch big out there to rebound for him. That just clogs down the paint and causes more of a mess on offense and leaves us vulnerable to three point shooting on the other end.
