2016 NBA Draft Discussion

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/draft/

Oh crap, Woj just said the Pacers were heavily going after Gay before Thad Young trade. Kings were asking for future picks, too much for the Pacers.

...Woj: Bender refused to give Kings his medical. If Sabonis gets drafted by the Kings, he'll consider playing overseas for 1 year, but the Kings don't currently have him at their draft board at 8.

- Kings have done a great job auctioning off the number 8 pick. Multiple offers that include future 1st round picks.

Guys we just cleared 6.3 million off the cap for a proven shooter who shoot all of 38% from the field this season and added another first round pick in the 20s! This is already the best trade in the last 10 years!
The rookie, if we keep the #22 pick, will earn about $1.1 million. So I agree that the $5 million or so in cap space is a good move on our front offices part. Let's hope it ends up being beneficial for us in free agency.

Not super stoked about the Belli trade so far...I hope we're not packaging this pick along with #8 to move up. If that's the case, i am not down. We need vets, not rookies
If it's to move up to select Dunn, that could be a good move since the free agents available this year aren't overly appealing outside of Mike Conley. Now perhaps our new head coach gives us an advantage, but in all likelihood he's going to sign elsewhere, so that leaves us with a bunch of free agents like Rondo, Deron Williams, Lin, etc to choose from. Ok, they are veterans, but frankly I'd rather roll with Kris Dunn at PG.

Outside of Dunn, I think we are as well off staying at #8 and drafting the best player available - that could bet he guy with the most upside (eg Brown or Chriss) or simply the most polished player capable of contributing (eg Hield or Sabonis). But I guess trading up for even Jamal Murray or Buddy Hield, if we believe they will be the long term answer at SG, could be a worthwhile thing if we decide we want to bring back Rondo or firmly believe we can attract Conley (or another free agent PG).

Sabonis drafted by Kings, what the heck would they even consider him at 8 for. SMH.

Future 1st's. Man I hope that's in a trade for a star because if they are stock piling for a rebuild that would suck.

I think it's just about recovering assets that we lost in previous trades. Asking for picks in return doesn't necessarily mean that we intend to keep those picks and use them ourselves in the future. They could also be used as trade sweeteners down the line since it seems like nothing gets done these days without a pick going somewhere.

Yep, if Sabonis basically refused to sign with the Kings and waited 1 more year...I think he'd be eligible to be redrafted in the next draft. Honestly, **** Sabonis. Woj has no reason to make this up. We weren't considering him(Sabonis) anyways.

Both nbadraft.net and draftexpress.com have Jaylen Brown going to the Kings in their final mocks.

EDIT: Alright, nbadraft.net just changed to Sabonis, but they have Brown going at #9 to Toronto.

Well, regarding Rudy to Pacers talks, it now comes out, that Indiana inquired about #20 for Gay, Kings asked for a lot more, and that was the end of it, but as a result we have "Kings discussed trading Gay to Pacers". There will a be a lot of rumors before the end of the day.

They wanted Rudy Gay before. If this is a scorched earth situation though, they probably don't want Rudy Gay anymore. Boston's multiple picks are more likely what they want.
