Kings Basketball Baby ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Pace Pace Baby.

So Chris Paul's understudy got his ass kicked. Cuz showed again how key having Rajon Rondo is to keeping his turnovers down. Fought well for a long stretch, looked headed for a triple double. got frustrated once he could feel the wheels fall off and became part of the problem, looked headed for a quadruple double. Acy and Wilie did not provide much boost. Rudy was ok on one end, although it did not feel attached to the rest of what we were doing. He did not have the rebounding or defensive presence this time though, an no Rondo to press him. Thank god for Steph Curry giving us a first half flash, because otherwise the SGs were worthless again.

And of course int he end it came down to nothing so much as they eventually found a way to stop us before we found a way to stop them, and gee, shocker.

Tick tock. One more game to try to save one of these brutal home games. Wouldn't count on it.

Kings of mediocrity. Let's get this disaster season over and revamp - resigned officially now. Resign Rondo. Find actual NBA SG mate who can shoot, chew gum same time. Pace my arse, viewing this continued worst D in the league joke.

Few things:

1) The broadcasting crew is actively savaging the team (really, just the players, not the coaching) at every single chance they get - hell, they're manufacturing complaints at this point.
Proof: In the 3rd, Napear and Jerry were obsessively repeating that the Kings' problems were because they weren't being "patient".
However, later in the 3rd, Doug Christie said the team needs to be more "aggressive", when the team was being patient (so patient they got a shot-clock violation).
As long as they can point fingers at the Kings' players, they just wag their tongues non-stop about negative observations .
They seemed to be completely unaware that the Clippers' defense was markedly better after halftime. Like they turned a switch and immediately starting playing playoff-intensity defense - the kind that the Kings have crumbled every single time they've met it for the past 5 years.

The Kings are pretenders until they find personnel or a system/plays were they can actually create reliable shots under playoff-intensity defense.
Whenever they get close against a serious opponent, the locks get put on and the Kings' offense crumbles.

2) The Clippers won because they have better players, better coaches, and better playcalls that can lead to good shots.
This Kings team is nowhere close to winning a playoff series.

3) Anyone catch Karl's postgame comments?
Holy crap, did he reveal a big Freudian slip.
He actually said, "They have a better offensive coordina-...... and a better defen..... um, they played.... uh, Chris Paul had an incredibly good game blah blah blah"

http://www.nba.com/kings/video/teams/kings/2016/02/27/1456554118462-KarlPostgame.mov-318854

Did you notice?
He actually said the Clippers have a better offensive coordinator than the Kings do - meaning HIM (and his "system") and then started to say the Clippers defensive coordinator was better, but quickly realized what he was saying, and just yammered on to his next talking point about CP3.

There is zero chance that someone who can;t even talk in coherent sentences in prepared media sessions could ever remotely keep the attention, focus, or respect of elite athletes.
They must look at him like, "God, what a delusional old buzzard - I can't wait till he's out of here and we can get a real coach."

I haven't seen the post game comments yet. But they did fire the offensive coordinator. They where supposed to hire a defensive coach. I have not heard if they did. But maybe that's what he was referring to. I still don't get how we lost so badly. We seemed to be playing them well and it all just went to crap.

We lost because the Clippers were consistent. And I just can't underatand, how we can come into this game with this defensive strategy.
I mean the Clippers offense was Reddick running of screens, which we handled ok, but Chris Paul getting practice jumpshots everytime they set a simple ball screen.
I mean I get it, that it's difficult for us, because we rely on Cuz on offense and don't want to him to to pick up fouls when guarding the pick&roll, but at some point you have to do something against the guy, that just drains every shot. I don't know what to do, but we clearly need to adjust our way of dealing with these basic basketball plays.
Not the first time we got beat by a PG like this.

A lot of the screens set by the Clippers are illegal and they seem to get away with it most of the time. Moving while setting a screen and actively using their hands should be called every time.

Why would you want to suspend someone for a basketball play? Cousind was losing his balance and threw the ball at Paul to save the posession. No need to make something out of nothing.
If this results into a fine or suspension, you better shut the whole league down.
Because there was clearly intent there....I doubt that they would suspend him but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a fine.

Of course it's intentional, when you throw the ball at an opposing player while falling out of bounds.
What's supposed to happen? Is there any threat for Chris Paul to get hurt?
I mean at some point you have to stop making the players into choir boys. If you want to fine someone for throwing a basketball while falling out of bounds (note: this is way different than Chris Dudley throwing the ball at Shaq), you might as well put the players in some chearleading uniforms.

It was in a play to save a posession, hence no call and really of little interest to much of anyone the next day.
Please. Paul came up to try and steal the ball and Cuz flopped like he got shot out of a cannon and wasn't really falling OOB. Look, I'm not advocating for anything to happen to him, but that was all about him being frustrated with the alley-oop attempt and then Paul trying to swipe at the ball. This wasn't a normal play where you are falling OOB and need to throw it off of a player.

Last night was not much of a defensive showcase for either team. I remember fondly Malone's idea about "winning the the fourth quarter" and turning up the defensive effort at the end. The Kings seem to be able to hang with lots of teams for 2 1/2 to 3 quarters, but often lose the battle of the fourth quarter. Many good teams seem to coast along keeping it close and then they put the hammer down in the fourth when it matters.

The Kings definitely missed Rondo. Curry showed promise at the point. Coaches like his quickness on defense. The Kings have had SG guards for years that can't really shoot. Can Collison and Curry fill that role?

And this is one of the things that drives Boogie nuts. Doc Rivers seems to have found a way to fool the officials and he's making the most of it.

Was there intent? Yes, DMC was annoyed Paul was torching them. But it was a basketball play to save the possession. No harm no foul. DMC didn't rifle it either. If there's a fine or suspension, I would be sad at the state of the NBA.

#23
It's funny how some of you have blinders on when it comes to DMC. Flip that around and say it was Paul throwing it off DMC's head there. You'd be calling him a little *****, dirty, etc.

#24
And, by the way, I can't stand Chris Paul. I can care less about him. I'm more concerned about DMC, yet again, letting his emotions get the better of him.

Many teams right now these days are getting away with numerous illegal screens. Clippers arent the only team doing it. Warriors are notrious for it and the refs dont call it.

The coaching staffs know that refs wont call it 90% of time so they take advantage of that and keep doing it because the extra space on the court is definitely worth it. It is not the coachins fault, its quite clever BUT the NBA needs to figure that out over the offseason to minimize illegal screens.

Well if I can see them the Refs can see them:) Jordan and Mbah a Moute were stepping into screens and grabbing hold of defenders most of the game. There are already rules against a moving screen and holding the refs just need to blow the whistle.

Still illegal screen or not Redick and CP3 hit those shots time after time:(

Did anyone else see Rondo visiting with Doc Rivers after the game? Boogie came over and it appeared Doc gave Boogie a little push, like "get outta here"??? Did this happen or am I taking the exchange out of context from the limited video?

I can't believe some posters on here are complaining about illegal screens...folks, this has been going on all season long, not only to the Kings but to the entire league! this is nothing new here, more than ever bigs are allowed screen you to death with no repercussions and I have never seen teams as much as I have the last two seasons or so use two players to screen a guy open, it's all out in the open if you pay enough attention to the small details.

As far as the game is concerned, the Kings hung in there for longer than I thought they would and then the Clippers went on an offensive explosion throwing the ball into the Pacific Ocean at that point and it was goodnight from there. I'd like to see Rondo sit out another game or two just to see how much the Kings struggle on the offensive side without him and then see him inserted again, he makes Boogie's life so much easier, it's no contest.
