The whole "its a perimeter game now" thing is silly. There's no magic to it. The ball goes in the hoop or it does not. The ball goes in the hoop plenty for Cousins and for us. The issue is on the other side of the court, and its not a Cousins issue.

There are multiple ways to win a basketball game, in the end, defense wins championships most of the time. That's true in most all sports, and basketball is no exception, even today. Last time I checked, Cuz has the ability to score the ball well and can be a good defender in the right system, and that's not going to change barring injury.

He thinks cousins is 10 years too late. He thinks we're not gonna get anywhere with him.
I'm a fan of some of the most dysfunctional teams in sports. The A's. The 49ers. And I've never heard the tv voice of either of these teams run their best player into the ground. IMO, this is so wrong and unbecoming.

I say this as a big Cousins supporter but I understand where Grant is coming from.
Not that the Kings should trade Cousins - that part is just stupidity.
But I understand why Napear would say it.
Because clearly he doesn't personally like Boogie and that colors his viewpoint. It's happened with Grant and other Kings players over the years but this is the most obvious example. And maybe there's good reason for that. Cousins looks like he can be an exasperating dude to be around at times. And Grant spends a LOT of time around him.
But the notion that you trade an all-star center because the NBA is currently more perimeter oriented is just dumb.
Until the Warriors won the argument was that jump shooting teams wouldn't win in the playoffs. Things wax and wane but the bottom line is that you have to find a way to beat other teams. You aren't going to out-Warrior the Warriors. But a slow down, defensive minded team with a beast in the middle that can score at will and foul out their bigs? That could be a matchup problem if used properly and with the right supporting cast.

Boogie isn't getting traded because nobody has any real confidence in Karl and those owners want people to show up to that new arena.
All of this is just further damaging your own product. It only makes a select bunch of good old boys happy, but it turns away FAs who know what too much of this means about the racial atmosphere of your team and city.

And this, in a nutshell, is what drives me insane about Grant Napear. His is part of the broadcast team for the freaking team. There is no way in hell he should be making comments like that, undermining the team, the front office AND DEMARCUS COUSINS.
I know, as usual, the explanation will be that he didn't say it during a broadcast and that his show is totally different. You know what I say? BULLcrap!

When the Kings can win 10 in a row WITHOUT DeMarcus in the lineup, as the Clips did this season without Blake, they'll finally have enough talent on the team to win 50+ games every year just the same.
Just goes to show the difference in complimentary talent.
Leave it to Grant to say something so utterly ridiculous. They make a trade like that and Grant will be riding him for punching team employees, complaining to refs incessantly, flopping, and, more importantly, not winning games. But he's willing to trade for that guy now. Brilliant.

No, this is a story. This isn't just Grant's usual blathering on the radio. This time he put it out there on Twitter. It isn't about whether or not this is a perimeter oriented league.
It's about one of the members of the broadcast team openly supporting that we trade one of our own, and even making a joke about it.
I cannot imagine any other play-by-play announcer making that kind of comment.
