The more it all sinks in, the less I want to blame anybody. Karl is obviously not at a place in his career where he's gonna bend his own convictions and philosophies into a pretzel to fit DeMarcus Cousins. He's in a place where he goes in and installs HIS style/philosophy. He's paid his dues - and you should not hire George Karl unless you want a George Karl team.
Hiring him was unavoidable. the fans were going to burn down Sleep Train if Karl wasn't hired.
I will always believe that Karl agreed to come to the Kings only after extracting a promise from the GM (Pete) that DeMarcus would be shipped out. It is logical and explains everything that happened afterward.
When PDA was whacked - and DMC placed above George on the pecking order by Vlade, we were doomed to this outcome.
You can Monday morning QB this and say they should have got rid of Karl or Cousins pre-season. But Vlade was looking like Henry Kissinger getting those guys to try to work together. Who didn't hope that would work out? It looked like it for a little while there when we were 8th place in January for a second.
Just didn't work out. But I'm really not going to hate on Karl. He's my elder, and he's a heck of an accomplished man. I wish him well - hope he enjoys the money. I suppose my tickets are costing an extra buck or two because of him but, oh well... no regrets I enjoyed the ride. I enjoyed that first Celtics game and all that drama. I enjoyed this year's team immeasurably more than any of the previous nine.
God bless you George. Good luck Corliss!
