Kings to fire Karl in coming days

Indeed, was bad they even let it reach this weekend...UNLESS, and this may be more hope than anything else, but UNLESS they have been trying to line up an established replacement in the background and have them take over post-All Star.
But since it's obvious Cuz and others have quit on Karl, why wait? Cook something up while an assistant coaches a couple games, maybe the players rally around thinking their voices are heard and their input matters. Since it is clear certain players don't give a damn to show up as long as Karl is still here. It's a bad look for everyone involved, so if you're going to let him go just do it now. Karl doesn't deserve to be in limbo as a HOF coach, the players don't deserve to wait around, and it's just going to prolong the bashing the FO will take.

Can this please not be the case? This season is over. Done. Just wait until the end of the season and start up a coaching search. Don't do it in the middle of the season....again

Hey, that's the reality of the situation. We are not calling the shots with Thibs. He's a prestigious coach and even if he did come here, he'd get sunk under Cousins just like pretty much every coach he has had.
Uh huh. All those GREAT coaches that have gone on the greatness after they were free of Cousins tyranny.

I hear Westphal is killing it with his grandson's elementary school team.

Oh wait, you mean there's only ONE coach that has gone on from here to head coach in the NBA again, and that was the only coach that Cousins got along with?

No he got thrown a large sum of guaranteed money

He's a very hot commodity. Kind of ridiculous you just said that even though only a year and a half earlier he lead Denver to 57 wins without a clear star player, and won coach of the year.

He's one of the greats.
Yes and he was talking to Olando and everyone said " get him while we can". It's just amazing what people come up with.

If you're going to fire him then just fire him. This delay makes no sense and looks bad.
Agreed.

Vlade really needs to step up to the podium on Tuesday morning and announce that Coach Karl has been relieved of coaching duties, effective immediately.

If he waits until after Wednesday's game to drop the hammer, I would really start questioning Vlade's know-how on running an NBA team.

I just pray the next coach comes WITHOUT a publicist. The PDA and Karl professional online posters have been uber-anoying.
If there were a non popularis ergo ficta corollary to the argumentum ad populum logical fallacy, I think this would qualify.

No argument was offered. I simply observed that there are posters that have appeared to function as if they were working for a PR firm representing staff members, who's posts I found annoying, the fact they are annoying to me is the reason I question their bona fide existence, rather the converse. Just an observation no real claim or warrant involved.

If I agreed that this season is lost then I am not sure it would really matter to me when we fire Karl. Really the best reason to fire him ASAP is to try and salvage the season. Despite the prediction that we will need to win about 19 of the 30 remaining games, here we sit just 6 games behind the eight seed with 30 games left to play and a team that has shown some flashes of good ball. Don't get me wrong I was the guy who semi-seriously wanted to ax Karl after the Philly loss in Jan just to make sure he did not climb over PJ for career wins on the back of a team he was miss-coaching. If the removal of Karl is only to hand the team over to an interim coach then sure why bother to do it now unless it is to quell dissent?

George Karl is as good as coaches come. It's a shame to see him go. I wish him the best and on to greener pastures. A true Naismith Hall of famer. It's an elite group.

Season is not over. Still a veteran roster constructed that could theoretically finish strongly. Maybe not 8th seed strongly. But promise for next year strongly.

Just depends on who they are looking at. Frankly most of the guys I am interested in are already technically available. I'd have no interest in waiting until the summer when we had to compete for them fair and square if there was a chance to nab them.

Then again wrongheaded as Vivek is we're probably lucky the Pels haven't canned Gentry yet. A while back little birdies whispered we were interested in him formerly.

My guess is that at least a few of Karl's crony assistant coaches will be let go too, and that time is needed to line up new assistants.

That's true. The Karl bunch within the ranks of the assistants are Chad Iske, John Welch, Anthony Carter, and Vance Walberg. If any one of them is chosen to succeed him then there wouldn't be much change. If they are all let go that's a lot of assistants to replace. Although, how many assistants do you really need?

Why do I feel like the next statement is going to be one denying all these reports.

Ugh.

Just do it already. Why on earth is he still travelling with the team?

He needs to be let go, but at the end of the season. Why? Because they might hire another GM next season, and another year of this may drive off any established candidates, leaving the Kings to perhaps chose a coach with no HC experience. Cousins will run right over somebody like that.

I'm convinced that with this veteran roster, you bring in someone that emphasizes defense and takes advantage of the rosters strengths, this club will turn it around. These guys want to win and their current schemes suck hard.
