[Game] Kings v. Pelicans - 1/13/16 - 7 PT, 10 ET

I am just not in favor of moving a 47 percent three point shooter to the bench when you have a world class double generator and a world class assist man in your starting lineup. He is a solid defender to boot.
I know what you are saying and agree to an extent. I am like 60/40 in favor of starting Q. This is the decision Karl is contemplating now. There are pros and cons but starting Q is not a major commitment if 5 minutes into game Omri is first guy off the bench.

It just seems to me that if the primary obstacle between the Kings becoming a legitimate a playoff team is defense, and I think it is (with the resurgence of Boogie and despite our blackhole at SG), then barring a trade, Karl needs do something to address the issue besides crying to reporters post-game.

Or just bench Ben and start Casspi with Acy or WCS. Honestly would Casspi really be worse defending SGs than Ben or Marco and he's shooting better than both.

The team has lacked hunger/energy and defense not talent and we got three guys that bring those attributes thats Casspi/Wcs /Acy play all of them and reduce the minutes of the 'cool' guys. Knowning Karl WCS and Acy go back to having little to no role.

I would just really hope that the Kings get a team sometime to come into Arco and lay an egg on the floor for once (instead of the other way around).

I'm frankly sick of all these teams, whoever they are, whatever their circumstances, coming into Arco and killing themselves to play hard against the Kings.

When was the last time a team mailed in their effort on our home floor?
I know these kinds of games happen, because I see it all over the box scores of the league, and catch parts of them from time to time, or read about them happening to other teams.

Omri has developed into a superb player.

Would like to see a Rondo/Ben/Rudy/Omri/DMC Lineup... just enough size to rebound and defend, enough versatility to run and shoot and pass.

Casspi could add a whole new punch to the bench. Acy needs to keep his role and play 20+ minutes every game. His finishing ability and physicality is exactly what Karl needs out there.

PG - Rondo (35 min)/Collison (13 min)/Curry
SG - McLemore (22 min)/Belinelli (14 min)/Collison (12 min)/Anderson
SF - Gay (14 min)/Casspi (28 min)/Belinelli (6 min)/Butler
PF - Cauley-Stein (22 min)/Gay (19 min)/Cousins (7 min)/Acy/Dukan
C - Cousins (28 min)/Koufos (20 min)/Moreland

It sets the tone defensively to start while giving you ample bench scorers to utilize (Collison, Belinelli, & Casspi).

Cousins - 35 min
Rondo - 35 min
Gay - 33 min
Casspi - 28 min
Collison - 25 min
McLemore - 22 min
Cauley-Stein - 22 min
Belinelli - 20 min
Koufos - 20 min

I'd rather not see Collison end games for us anymore. I think you have to end with Rondo, Casspi, Gay, & Cousins while choosing one of McLemore, Belinelli, or Cauley-Stein.

Rondo/Omri/Rudy/Acy/Cuz would be interesting.

We have a lot of scrappy/defensive lineups we could play with, especially considering WCS is back (hopefully).

Too bad Karl's approach to defense is more offense, with his repulsive small ball squads.

Isn't it difficult to comprehend why any team with the Brow and Tyreke would be doing so poorly? I understand AD won't be there tonight and that's good for us but the whole picture makes so little sense. Can anyone explain this? Mr. Citrus?

They've both been healthy together about 10 games.

And they did the big stupid in the offseason and hired an idiot who bleated the normal run and duck nonsense in the ear of another ignorant NBA owner. I made this point at the time of the hire: Alvin Gentry has coached parts of 12 seasons in the NBA and made the playoffs TWICE. Only 3 times in 12 tries (or 13 tries now) have his teams won more games than they lost. Only once has he won more than 40 games in a season -- a single 54 win season after being handed the D'Antoni keys in Phoenix a few years back that somehow led to a resurgence of his career.

He's a crap coach. He always was a crap coach. They had injuries, weren't that good to start with, fired their coach, and brought in a career losing retread.

Now its our duty tonight to help put them out of their misery, or else return to wallowing in our own.

I too wouldn't mind seeing a Rondo/Casspi/Gay/Cauley-Stein/Cousins on the floor for the reasons stated below...
  1. It's probably one of our better defensive lineups (well, we don't have any wing defenders, so any lineup with Cauley-Stein & Cousins is probably one of our better defensive lineups) with both Cousins & Cauley-Stein to act as rim protectors
  2. The rebounding and ability to end possessions would be excellent with this group of guys (per36 rebounding for all 3 players: Rondo = 6.5, Casspi = 8.0, Gay = 7.2, Cauley-Stein = 9.9, & Cousins = 11.8)
  3. Once you do have the rebound, you have Rondo, Casspi, Gay, & Cauley-Stein who are able to leak out for easy transition buckets.
  4. Knowing our defensive switching schemes, Casspi, Gay, & Cauley-Stein would be able to switch effectively without causing a severe mismatch
  5. You have your best 3pt shooter (Casspi) and another adequate shooter (Gay) to help space the floor
  6. You have 3 scorers on the floor (Cousins, Gay, Casspi) which makes it harder for defenses to neutralize the scoring

Looks like Acy is starting, which is good. Not the biggest fan of Casspi of the bench but he has certainly excelled in that role before. It certainly balances our rotation out. Between Cuz, Koufos, WCS and Acy I can't think of a better defensive frontline in the league in terms of depth.

Gentry 'system' doesn't include defense, and injuries ruined their start. If you thought our team had issues check these guys out

Anthony Davis WILL play tonight. Well at least theres no chance of a letdown performance due to underestimating NOP.

Boogie vs Brow. Lets do it.

I'm not liking that the Pelicans are bringing all their best guys to play the Kings tonight.
It's an indicator that they are going to killing themselves to beat us (as everyone seems to do against us).

Pregame show says it's:
Gordon
Tyreke
Asik
AD
Cunningham

How is that a walk-in-the-park, easy-win lineup again?
