True but at this point we really should be focused on winning the games we are favored in. Losses against the favorites become a lot more palatable.
I don't disagree. But I do not agree that losing this game would mean the team isn't going to be competitive for the playoffs, which is what I was responding to in the first place.

Yes, it would be very good to win and I certainly think it's doable.

Looking forward to seeing Cousins destroy Hibbert.

Also looking forward to watching Randle. He looks like he's in the mold of Zach Randolph.

I like that Karl isn't going to stick with Koufos/Cousins for a quarter of the season so he can baby WCS along. Just put the kid out there. He's not going to fail on defense. Gives us a big bruiser at C for the entire game and consistent interior defense from start to finish.

I'm feeling pretty confident about tonight. Russell and Clarkson are nice young offensive players but defensively are probably by far the worst backcourt in the league (They made Rubio look like MVP-version of Steve Nash). I think Rondo and Collison will be able to get into the paint at will for easy baskets or kickouts for open 3's all night long, which should make it a real fun game to watch. Also, looking up and down the Laker roster I can't really see anyone capable of really giving Rudy any challenges on that end since they lost Wes Johnson and now start Kobe at the SF. I'm also encouraged to hear players like Collison comment after the Clipper game about a focus on being better defensively. If Willie does end up starting I think his energy and effort on defense is going to wear off on the rest of the starters.

Only thing that sucks is that I feel like Russell might have a field day with Rondo guarding him. Rondo was terrible on CP3. You want to force Russell to drive, while forcing Clarkson to take long jumpshots.

Russ' isn't having a "field day" with anyone. He simply isn't very good right now

I want to see Ben start. I know he's been off, but what he needs more than anything right now is confidence and some rhythm. Realistically, i think he can EASILY fill a vacant role that i see on this team - be the hustle guy. Be annoying, be intense, be that Tony Allen, hell even Matthew Dellavedova type player. Go out there, defend your f****** butt off, and let that passion spark the rest of the team. I would love for him to hit some 3's, but realistically, i want to see someone on this team who will provide a spark. I don't know if we have that guy right now, and i think we could use one.

I think that guy will likely be Willie. All the intangibles outside the box score and flashy stats

Agree we are missing that guy.

However that guy is most definitely not Ben. Fire in the belly is one of those innate things, its not something you take up in your 20s.

That's a nice wish, but the Ben I saw opening night didn't have the passion. He didn't even look engaged half the time. He doesn't have the hunger. He needs to find it, and find it quickly. Talk can only go so far. He has to start walking the talk...NOW.

Lakers putting down foundation for their excuse should they get their posteriors handed to them on a platter tonight:

The game will start here in Israel at 4:00 am and I will still watch the game even though it is not being broadcasted here, I will watch it on the internet I guess, that's how much I am excited and eager for the Kings season, we stumbled against the Clippers, but we can't do the same against the Lakers.
Let's win this one, I just hope I will not be disappointed.

Let's go Kings.

Um, it's the second game of the season. I can state with absolute certainty that NO playoff spot will be determined with 80 games left on the regular schedule.

I know it's the Lakers and I know people get all wrapped up, but let's not get crazy.
I completely disagree.

Minimizing the affect a loss to the Lakers would be to this fanbase, at this particular time, would be unwise IMO.

I think it would be catastrophic to fanbase morale if the Kings lose this game.
It wouldn't affect the players, coaches, or front office much, but the fanbase would be demoralized, and there would be an instant hit to the fanbase's ability to put up with the Kings crap.
It would immediately hit the fanbase in the gut, and force it to relive the shameful, embarrassing recent history too much (basically cause the fanbase to turtle up in protection).

Like we saw last year (see my sig), the crap only hit the fan (and the season fell apart) immediately after the Kings lost to the Lakers so woefully. It directly led to the firing of Malone IMO.

Nothing tears the Kings apart and causes internal bickering more than losing games they need to win against the mf-ing Lakers.

+1!

It's the effin Lakers. Must win. And they're trash, we're supposed to be good. Extra must win.

And we're in LA, and nothing makes me happier than a sad Laker fan.

Triple must win!

Nah you gotta remember rondo was getting screened to death and Blake griffin was on fire with his midrange. Clips have a deadly pick and roll game

He does so far tonight.

Maybe he reads what people say here.
