Kings trade JT, Nik and Landry to Sixers (renamed)

Rondo may help us. Matthews may help us. Ellis is a major talent.

2 of them + a WCS added to Cousins/Gay/Collison puts us miles ahead. Even if you are forced to go with the much cheaper Jeremy Lin/Matthews or Lin/Ellis you have added two quality guards, and now have 4, and if its Lin you might still have enough money to go chase Koufos or some such.

Adn then you fill in the bench with Omri, Dre, Acy, Moreland, Dahntay etc. Tough vets, hard workers, scrappers.

It's the combo that will ultimately decide this one. Ask Dallas how a Rondo/Ellis back court looked. Having a PG and SG looking to have the ball in their hands and that are barely capable of hitting 30% on 3's on their best night isn't a very good look. Shooting wins. The question now is whether the Kings will ever learn.

Dave- if you can't say anything then just don't mention it. Nobody likes weird emojis pertaining to something not eventually said. Try words. "I have heard things but can't comment on them"

In short, just use English or use silence. Pictograms are for dead pharaohs.

With the Salary Cap going up, up and up I think the decision was made to BUY a team. Hey the Big Markets have done it for years!

I think Brick is correct that if quality Vets are added to Demarcus, Rudy and Darren you start to have an interesting team.

Rondo can't shoot for ****, has admitted in an interview that he doesnt bother playing defense anymore, and is a known cancer in the locker room. I was a big fan of his in Boston, and maybe he just needs a change of scenery (not that that helped him in Dallas) but he is a major risk.

Ellis is much maligned, but I agree, he is a great player. But he is a volume scorer. I'm not sure that will work with Cuz and Rudy. Maybe it does, but that is another risk. Oddly enough, I'd love Ellis as a 6th man. But, obviously, you don't blow your cap wad on a 6th man.

Matthews would be amazing if he can play like he did before his injury. But if he comes back gimpy and we're paying him 15mil a year? Talk about an albatross.

I would LOVE to devour some tasty crow on this one, but I still think the jury is out. It's no so much what we gave up (although, it is irksome that we keep blowing draft picks), but who we will get back that has me worried.

Ah well, we have room to go hard after these FAs, so that is a plus.

The other thing that has me worried is that some of the names we are targeting (Rondo, Ellis) are players that Vivek is known to covet. And now we're getting tweets (I know, I know, take em with a grain of salt) inferring that Vivek is back to his meddlesome ways, and this trade goes way beyond who we gave up and who we get back. If Vivek is still trying to run the show that can only mean disaster.

OK, trading for someone is cool, the problem is what would be the value going the other way? I'm pretty sure Denver actually would want something for Lawson, and Atlanta would want something for Schroder. Now the Kings can't even give out a first for the next half decade.

highly unlikely given our excellent timing -- we waited until most of the teams had already shot their wad, and are now the biggest player out there and can pitch to a FA that we are going to sign 2 of them together.

But even if we did, we now become a team with huge cap room able to absorb other teams' unwanted contracts. Denver wants to dump Lawson? That's easy now. Hell, it takes too much, but if we wanted to take on Deron we could suddenly do it. We have the ability to add major vets now.
I am a little more at ease now.

I hate hearing these Woj tweets just like the rest of you, but the fact remains that its true! He's not knocking us fans, he is knocking the completely dysfunctional culture that currently exists. I think we can all agree that there is dysfunction. The truth hurts sometimes

Because they had negative value. That was Philly's whole game. We'll take your junk contracts and clear your cap in exchange for picks.
Sam Hinkie is becoming more and more of a genius every day. He is stockpiling cheap, young talent and draft picks. Whenever the Sixers pull the trigger on a few major trades or those players/picks suddenly develop, WOW!

I just dont understand. Another top 10 pick went away for pennies. I know it's a salary dump but we would be lucky to get any free agent, and we're gonna have to overpay like crazy to get them here. Always thought we'd need to trade to get players here. I envision us striking out and then over paying someone. Like Landry all over again

We are finally all in, and I love it! No more trying to patch things together in the hopes that Boogie will be happy for another 5 years. We have a once in a generation talent, and we are finally committing to at least trying to build a team around him. An offseason where we added WCS, Stuckey, and Corey Brewer wasn't going to get us past 35 wins. At least now we are trying.

And if it all blows up - either because we can't make the moves to finish this off, Matthews comes and gets hurt again, or Rondo comes and is a head case - Boogie is going to want out. And then we will be in full rebuild. And we will be trading Boogie to start that rebuild. In doing so, we will be getting back some of the picks we just lost/swapped with Philly. In essence, we will be starting a rebuild in 2/3 years because we tried to hit a home run in the Boogie era and we failed. But at least we tried. It sure as hell beats holding Boogie for 3 more years, trying for "next year" in the draft, and hoping to piece together a 40 win team. Both of those failed scenarios end in a rebuild, but at least in one of them we can say we tried.

Rondo said that he didn't play defense for years. Guess what - that's because he played alongside of maybe the best perimeter defender of the league in Bradley. Bradley covered the other teams best backcourt player.
So Rondo bascially said, that he had to get used to cover the other teams best guard again. He never said he doesn't want to play D.

Ellis will hamper DMC and Gay more than Rondo from my point of view.

Wes is a risk, but was never a player, that relied on his athleticism. As long as he can stay healthy I'm not too worried.

My fear is, that we cleared the space, payed a way too high price to do it and no major FA will sign with us, cause we are not considered contenders.
I'm not worried about JT or Landry. There are plenty of roleplaying bigs out there. But giving up Stauskas hurts.

Lets ponder for a bit how improved our defensive will be with the addition of WCS and possibly Rondo and Matthews!

Not to mention upgrading the bench back court from Sessions/Ray Mac and Stauskas to Collison and Ben! Just those two guys could turn our bench from being one of the worst to one of the best :p

Very exciting to potentially turn the corner here as a franchise :) Next year Cousins is only going to get better and honestly that on its own is worth a handful of wins at the least!

Hate this move. Who starts at PF now? WCS? Never good to have to count on a rookie, especially a rookie big. And who backs him up?

Not to mention giving up on Sauce.

All with no guarantee that they even sign more talented players with the added caproom. Last time it was letting Tyreke go only to flirt with Iggy and ultimately add Landry.

And with rumblings of continued dysfunction. Sometimes I wonder why I follow this team.

If this free agency is a disaster and the Boogie/Karl issue(s) aren't resolved I'm not sure I have the stomach for another hopeless season.
