Kings trade JT, Nik and Landry to Sixers (renamed)

Hall of Famer
If it was just one future pick, I wouldn't be so worried. But now we owe 2 future first round picks to different teams AND rights to swap in 2 different drafts. So we don't have control over our own picks and no longer can use them to pick up talent at say, the trade deadline. Our assets right now bare to none.
Pure and simple, we've got to start winning now. Future picks a few years down the road mean far less than the ability to improve this roster with vets this offseason. If we turn into a playoff team, those picks mean far less.

Sometimes you have to give up value to receive value and in giving up those picks/rights to them, on top of dumping salary, we just created an avenue to seriously improve this team right now. Do that going into the new arena, centered around the best big in the game and we've created a situation where FAs want to come here. Screw it up and we've got a number of issues.

But as a small market we have to take a risk. It was play it safe and maybe take a small step forward or take on risk and look for a big step forward. We chose the latter. How it plays out we'll have to see but as of now we haven't gotten "raped". To create the opportunity we had to take on risk. Now we wait and see what we do with the opportunity.

The thing is there is nothing left. Wes Matthews for 15M/Yr coming off achilies surgery? Team killing Rajon Rondo? Ugh... This team.. I swear.
That's the worst case. The best case with those two is you wind up with one of the best shooting 2 guards in the league who is also a good defender, and a PG who doesn't need shots, can penetrate enough to force teams to rotate off ball movement, and plays lockdown defense. Best case a Rondo/Matthews/Gay/Cousins/WCS lineup is very very well balanced and full of talent. Worst case... yeah that involves matthews going Ralph Sampson and Rondo going Ted Bundy... let's not think too much about that.

I can dig a Rondo, Mathews backcourt! Lets DC and Ben lead the second unit which should really help out!

I will however barf if we sign Ellis with the intention of starting him...

Any one think this could be a way for us to trade for talent and take on a bigger contract and not just FA money?

Phoenix sends us Bledsoe to make cap space for LMA maybe?

That actually makes sense. Although I can't see them getting LMA if Bledsoe is gone. Who else do they have.

Why? Monta would be a welcome sight. Dude learned how to play within himself in Dallas. Arguably, their most important player the past few seasons

I'm not thrilled about the 1st round pick, but completely am onboard with Vlade's gameplan. This isn't the time to keep on rebuilding with picks, which we haven't been so great at anyway. We've been out of the playoffs for too long and the time to start dumping coal into the steam engine is NOW.

Let's see what the next move is...

Who are you describing? Because it isn't Rondo

The problem with the picks besides being a lot of potential picks and GIVING UP PICKS, is that as far as I can see, the Kings are in the same crapty situation they were in with the terrible Casspi/Hickson trade. They can't potentially trade a pick in any other move because they don't have the full rights to the pick.

Their assets are the starting lineup players from last year plus WCS and that's it at this point.

I dont see how this is anything but a win for us.

We got rid of scrap pieces and a hopeful in Nik for the chance to sign a few big names and become a legit playoff team that could make some serious noise!

And as much as people on here loved JT, lets just say he was not getting any better! His bball IQ was in the gutter he was only an effective defensive player....we got WCS now!

Landry was a burden on this team financially as was JT

Im only sad to see Nik go, and even with that said....lets just say I wont be shedding many tears.

Imagine this lineup

Rondo/Collison/RayMac
Mathews/BMac
Gay/Casspi
Cousins/?
WCS/Moreland
