If we take Kaminsky at 6, I'll be more than a little upset.....Sac falling for the "he comes NBA ready" line of thinking. Would not have learned their lesson from Stauskas. Take your future PG in Mudiay who plays a premium position. Or we can regret not taking him and it becomes like when we passed on Lillard and Elfrid.
I don't think Kaminsky is a bad pick, maybe at #6, but trading back a bit he might be a good fit. Carmichael Dave made a good point on his show yesterday that if Kaminsky didn't play at Wisconsin and played in Europe instead where he was more of a mystery, he would probably go in the top 5. Mystery definitely adds to the allure of guys like Hezonja, Mudiay, and Porzingis.

Overall Kaminsky has good size, can shoot it from anywhere, can take his man to the basket to keep him honest, a decent defender, and even though he is more of a perimeter player he actually rebounds well.

Not sure I buy the mystery thing. If teams don't have much info on a guy I think there's more of an inclination to be conservative and pass on him in the higher tier of the draft, imo.

The big question is, who does Karl plan on using at power forward? We have thrown around names like Cauley-Stein and Kaminsky, both are power forwards who would fit in well next to Cousins in their own ways.

However we can't forget that right now Rudy Gay is the power forward of this team. That's how Karl used him last season and there have been several quotes from Karl this offseason that have eluded to that. If that is the plan then I don't think we take a power forward, which likely makes Hezonja the pick.

This could of course change if Gay is traded, the pick might reveal some things here. Remember that Karl liked to use Gallinari a lot at the power forward spot which actually worked out really well for the Nuggets that year. I don't think they will trade us Gallinari, but Kaminsky does have several similarities. A trade of Gay and Stauskas and our pick to the Nuggets for Lawson, Chandler, and their pick might work out. They really like Hezonja too so they would likely make that pick while we take Kaminsky at #7. So here is what we have.

Lawson
Chandler
Need to sign or trade for a Small Forward
Kaminsky
Cousins

Collison
McLemore
Probably Casspi
Thompson
Need to sign or trade for a backup Center

This isn't bad. Remember that good starting lineup that ranked in the top five last year? Now three of those five are playing off of our bench! That's a solid bench. In my opinion replacing Collison, McLemore, and Thompson with Lawson, Chandler, and Kaminsky is an upgrade.

Kings don't like Mudiay?
Kings looking to draft Kaminsky?

Hard for me to believe Orlando takes Mudiay because of Payton and Oladipo. Somebody might want to trade up to get Mudiay. Kings probably believe there's a good chance for Mudiay to be there when they pick. Why tell everyone they want him? They just give other teams a reason to trade up and nab him.

News to my ears on Mudiay is that NBA teams can't scout high school guys. That means the only body of work they've got on him is from China. Maybe there is a loophole in that NBA rule though. Can they see film from high school? Probably. Maybe that factors in.

Kaminsky was a very good college player. He's a very good outside shooter for a big man. But he's going to be challenged defensively and will probably at best turn out to be an average defensive player. If I were to guess, I'd say he'd eventually be below average defensively. I just don't see this from the Kings. If they get a pf they need a two-way player.

Vlade has said multiple times they want to get a long defender at PF fits favors.

looks like they want a salary dump. I would literally trade anyone not named CUZ or Gay to get him. I wouldn't want to part ways with Ben, but it would be very hard to pass that up.
Hoops hype has the at 45mill in cap next year.

And you ship Ben out with a police escort and don't think twice. Favors and cousins would dominate every front court. Also they don't like trey burke so Mudiya can be very enticing for them

Favors could be great for us, he is exactly the guy I imagined puting next to Cousins, maybe is a guy like Porzingis is available at 6 the Jazz will bait thinking about how great a Gobert-Porzingis frontcourt will be.

I really agree. I don't like a frontcourt of Kaminsky Cousins defensively. PnR killed our frontcourt last year and Kaminsky does nothing to solve that. The team didn't struggle on offense, it struggled defending the perimeter shot because we always ,always had to rotate to cover PnR. Roll the dice on WCS' health issues if you're going to get a frontcourt guy to play with Cousins.

You are right, that is what Divac has said. He is an honest guy, but I'm not completely sure that wanting of a defensive power forward that has been mentioned by both Divac and Karl is completely the truth. Sometimes you have to throw out some smoke during the draft process.

However when it comes to a trade for Favors and even adding Burke to the mix would be incredible! Favors is a perfect fit and I still think Burke can be very good in this league.

Favors COULD be a great fit next to Boogie. WCS has more defensive upside imo but a Frontline of Cuz, Favors and Rudy would be formidable. The downside would be jokes that would be made of it.

A FU by Hezonja's agent.. Seems like he's also limiting some info about. Hezonja.. His agents agency recently just paired up with the Detroit Pistons..there should be a rule against this.

I take a proven player over a rookie. Cousins+Favors would be dominant.
But Utah went on a run after the all star break featuring Gobert+Favors, winning with defense. Why shouldn't they continue to go down this route? If they manage to upgrade their guard positions, they should be in a good spot.

Oh god.. If the Kings draft Kaminsky I will be more upset than I was with all these Cousins Rumors. We do NOT want Kaminsky. He's turrrrrrrrrable.

These 4 or 3 year college players I always check their first or first and second years with their college teams. Seems that a lot of those players are mirroring their freshman stats when they're rookies in the NBA. We don't need a 1.8ppg and 1.4rps kind of player... If he was a freshman or sophomore he wouldn't even be in the second round let alone drafted. Carmichael Dave is wrong. Kaminsky will suck if we draft him and a lot of us will be talking about another wasted pick.

Correct....Kaminsky was a nobody his 1st 2 years and while he DID improve in college and can be a rotation player in the NBA, **** that, lets not take ANOTHER defensively challenged, athletically challenged player. And before someone says he's athletic enough......this is the NBA. He has good skills that will get swallowed up in the NBA. Pass on him unless we trade down and take him mid-1st round.

Is Porzingis more athletic?

Is Porzingis more athletic?
Slightly. He's a better run, jump athlete than Kaminsky but very lacking in strength, especially lower body strength.

While Porzingis is being touted as a good athlete it's really that he's a good athlete for a 7 foot, Euro prospect. I think he moves pretty fluidly but he's not a freak athlete at that size the way Cauley-Stein is.

The big issues for Kaminsky are that (1) he'll struggle to establish post position in the NBA (and he scored more often in the post than on jumpers) and that (2) he lacks the lateral quickness to defend on the next level. I think in time he can be a Ryan Anderson type with better passing instincts and a more developed post game. But I still think he's best off as a stretch 4/5 off the bench. I don't think he's a guy I'd count on to be a major piece.

Is Porzingis more athletic?
I still don't have a good read on Porzingas but he was intriguing in his workout but he's also not strong enough right now. Porzingas is down my list. If we are comparing bigs that might be available, I've got WCS ahead of those...a healthy WCS as I think he has impact from the start and is an athletic, defensive minded freak. I feel as though we could get a guy similar to Kaminsky in a deal or FA whereas a WCS would be much harder to come by.

Reports that WCS sliding down the draft like mad.... Draft express has him at #13 now.
