So... the Celtics were smaller and slower than us? Are we sure that we didn't trade them Landry at halftime?
This is actually the meaning of "pace", or "tempo" as my high school coach put it. And it's completely mental. You use ball movement, spacing, and court vision to put the ball in a place where the defense can't easily react or rotate. It makes it seem like you're a "running" team cause the defense is always on their heels, and yes, you do look to push the ball when necessary... but you're not a "running" team. That's not what defines you. What defines you is being mentally sharp and quick and crisp. This will lead to open shots, and defenders being even just slightly out of position, or shading the wrong way.

Coach K uses shot clock drills (12 seconds for example) not for the purpose of getting a shot off fast, but for the purpose of eliminating mental lapses in an offensive possession. Coach K probably believes that a well run offense SHOULD be able to get a good shot within 12-15 seconds. It creates great mental discipline.

That was a beautiful possession late in a game against very good Celtic D, Miller getting the ball in a creative way to your big man in good position when they were trying like hell to deny... and we get free throws.

I don't know who else pays attention to the little things like I do... but if you do, you know you just saw something that is absolutely huge for our future. Impossible to overstate the importance of that indicator.
Those "little things" are what will put is in a winning position on a consistent basis. There's no doubt, it's what we've been missing.

As soon as we cut the turnovers way down, we'll be very dangerous

Couldn't watch but dang. It's like November all over again, except the days are getting longer and warmer.

I think George Karl understands what a quicker pace, and doing it effectively, means and how to go about it.

I'm not sure the rest of the FO does. Hopefully that no longer matters. Corbin, may he RIP, just kept saying it but had no idea how to do it.
