My spidey sense tingled with him. You're in a bad mood. Maybe he can come back at a later date but seriously, once someone has lied, their credibility is dead.

If other forums can actually have discussions about this year, good for them. This year was one year less that I get to watch the Kings.
I am in a bad mood, but I don't think that makes me wrong. I've been on this board for 10 years and never felt less welcome just for voicing an unpopular opinion.

Dissenting opinions are welcome (believe me, I disagree with most of the people in charge here more often than I agree). Being an ass, however, is not allowed.

This board has lately become a giant anti-PDA circle jerk. If you don't recognize the decline in actual spirited debate being replace with "kill the gerbil" is a problem, I don't know what to tell you.

Also, were talking about one of the only pro-PDA posters being shadow banned without a public warning from the mods right after calling out a mod who said he should be appointed dictator of the Kings. I think we need to talk about this.
Talk about what exactly? You think I bothered to axe that featherweight?

If I wanted to destroy Gabriel, I would have, as is my preference, made it a very public spanking. The considerable issues being raised with him is whether he was ever a legit poster at all, in much the way there were concerns about whether Pace was a real poster at all. You will not be likely to find yourself, or Prince, or even Capt. Fact bounced anytime soon just for being on the wrong side of history. That has not been the issue with entities like Gabriel.

I'm just frustrated that there is increasingly less actual discussion here, and dissenting opinions are being mocked and pushed out.
The reason there is less dissension right now than at any other time in this board's history (AFAIK) is because the FO has been so blatantly WRONG in their moves lately.

You are one of the very few posters that can find any positive angles from the FO.

Do you know how hard that is? How hard that is to make 97% of a fanbase agree on anything?
I'll tell you this - it's a hell of a lot harder than simply giving up 39 points to a team in a quarter....

Well, by most.

We still have one prominent member who lashes out against opinions and viewpoints which aren't deemed positive enough. But for most part, people enjoy differing opinions because it makes for a better debate and there is a fair amount of tolerance here for varying viewpoints.

If you only see one poster complaining about negativity, that's most likely because the other positive posters have been harassed and/or bullied into silence.

The thing about the board's atmosphere ever since Malone was fired is that the tone of the conversation lately tends to be more agreeable to critical and aggressive people, and positive people don't tend to be critical or aggressive. So, you're not going to get a ton of positive posters complaining about the negativity; they just stop posting, instead.

You can go ahead and look at my comments in the PDA thread - I fully acknowledged all the shortcomings and concerns about the FO, but have argued that we are better off in the long run for the changes. Look at STR as well - plenty of posters saying they're still upset with and suspicious of the FO, but are optimistic with Karl and want things to get better.

There's no need for the hate that's take over this site. Calling Pete a gerbil and a weasel and a loser is not needed. The dialogue level here has fallen of a cliff. I don't care if you disagree with me, and I repeatedly showed respect for posters in the PDA thread who thought I was completely wrong but thoughtfully considered and responded to my points.

We are forgetting what made this site great. We should encourage a diverse array of opinions and refrain from mean-spirited insults. Healthy friendly discussion is exactly what has allowed this site to thrive for so long.

This strikes me as unnecessarily mean-spirited and arrogant. I had a private conversation with him and he struck me as a passionate person who maybe got carried away and needed some pointers on how to be a better and more civil poster. As long as we keep driving off young posters like that, this site will be unable to grow.

You have a point, but many of us DID have a positive view of PDA until the Malone firing. It's not like there was a hate PDA consensus here prior to that. Also the PDA must go crowd was/is in good company, virtually every sports commentator in the country laughed up their sleeves at him on that move and few if any have given him much props since, unless you count congratulating him on getting Karl out of the parking lot of Sleep Train Arena and into the gym.

If I may - he was given several warnings about his posting "habits" and decided that instead of trying to be more civil he would continue the "questionable" behavior. If he wants to keep being a "fraud and poser" as VF21 put it, we have no place for that here. Honest discussion and debate, sure. Junk like that - shape up or you are shipped out.

FYI: I'm the one who banned Gabriel - and his second appearance Fugazi. He was a poser and a fraud and I stand by my decision. If I made any error at all, it was in not deleting the comment applauding the ban.
I'm sorry for causing the board to become argumentative over that Gabriel person. At the time, I was sick of the guy's posts so I tried to check his profile to see his join date and other recent activity. I recall it was November 2014. Anyway, the profile was gone so I figured he drew his last straw.

Bricklayer DIDN'T pull the plug on him. I did and I would do so again.

You started a nice thread that unfortunately went totally off the rails, in great part because your "passionate" poster decided to go all puritanical against Bricklayer's graphic (which was nowhere near even the edges of offensive, BTW) and got on his high horse about what should and shouldn't be allowed here.

I've responded to your concerns privately via conversation so I'm not going to address it any further.

I am going to say one more thing, however: We mods work very hard to keep this board going without too much control but with enough so that it doesn't become a cesspool of flame wars, personal attacks, etc. We're not perfect but I think we do a damned good job. If we occasionally act human, well I guess people are just gonna have to overlook it.

This is true, but the majority of posters haven't been the problem. The majority of posters weren't dog piling on the posters who chose to remain positive, in spite of everything.

That's bricklayerforkingsbenevolentdictator.com to you. :p

And all you need to know about my benevolence is that I considered Gabriel to either be a) naive and foolish, or b) a troll, and yet I neither took the time to truly light him up, nor did I ban him. How much more benevolence do you need? The occasional claims that I ban people because I don't like them are nearly as silly In Vivek We Trust claims. Think about it: how often do you see me run from fights? Its just a very bad character read. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself, and if someone annoys we, I wheel on them right out in the open where everybody can see. In order to head down the banning road, you have to be disrupting the board as a whole, and even then you'll get a big cease and desist warning. I actually have fairly few bans to my credit. Somebody else normally tires of the game well before I do.

That is not even the first time that "Murica" map has been seen on this board. I don't remember the details but I recall a whole series of those things.

OK now back to Rudy as a PF and how is Stauskas going to look if he actually gets to play rather than just go stand in the corner and watch ISO ball?

Back to the original post... I was born and raised in LA. Was a Laker fan from the time of West and Chamberlin through Magic and Kareem. Living up here, I love the Kings now but never felt connected the same way to the Lakers. (Of course I'll always love the Dodgers. )

Having no businesspostingthis because I only skimmed the OPost because it was so long and only skimmed through thank following posts, I'm going to comment anyway-

I read that n the thread title that this was about Sacramento and that is where I have always lived. Good place. When my youngest child was 20 years old tha Kings came to town and I became a STH and a fan. 24 years later I discovered KF.com and have enjoyed being part of a motly group. Looking forward to being at tonight's game and seeing our new beginning and I'm hoping it's not me you're going to ban for life. Go Kings (and Glenn and VF21 and
Brick, etc.)!!!!

Shoot.. I would have been banned long ago for the Tyreke Evans tenure with the Kings. The guy still cant hit a jumper consistently lol. But he is playing the "team game" much better now so Kudos to him.

Also, I don't get the whole anti PDA thing either. It's well beyond being funny (constant gerbil references). It was funny the first 100 times... Now it's just annoying. Same with the anti Vivek crap I hear daily. I can't ever be pissed at someone who saved our kings no matter how long ago he did it.

Anyway, I was a Laker fan up until about 1990-1991 when my dad took me to my first game against the Magic at arco... Kings lost 115-113 (or 112) but a fan was born that day. Lived in Sac most of my life.

You mean you felt more connected to the Lakers?

That's something that I touched on. As an upstart vagabond team, the Kings really haven't had a shot at legitimacy, and most people I know from the area sort of see the Kings as a secondary team, and not one that they're really passionate about. And I do think that's also a reflection of Sacramento's inferiority complex, as well.

I'd add that the level of snark and spite that's coming through here is connected to some of the uglier traits of Sacramento as well.

I'm part of a younger generation that saw C-Webb while I was in high school. I've noticed that younger people, including Lakers fans, have a lot more respect for the Kings. I am good friends with die hard Lakers fans, and it's great how much mutual respect we have.

My point was that we should be proud and unite behind this team. We have great players, a great coach, and a great new arena. Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of people are happy to bash that sense of pride and optimism in order to feel better about themselves. I suppose that's part of Sacramento, too.
