You gotta respect the history being made. It was like watching Reggie Miller vs. the Knicks. The Knicks were my second team back in those days, and I didn't like Miller. But omg was that an amazing performance..
The turnaround 3 he made in the corner was eerily similar to one of the ones that Reggie Miller made. The latter part of tonight's performance reminded me a lot of that Reggie Miller performance which was amazing to see as well.

Based on what? By the way I don't think anybody is comparing Kobe's entire game performance against Klay's 3rd quarter performance.

Kobe has never had a single quarter like this before.

And don't even think about arguing that last sentence unless you can find me a quarter in which Kobe scored 37 points or more on 100% shooting

I'm not going to drink gallons of the Klay cool aid as gaga best ever. Yes, he got sizzling hot against mediocre at best to shockingly horrible D. There's been several greater performances in NBA history to take nothing away from his unconscious Q3. Before the three point shot Pete Maravich had better game with 68 against one of leagues top defenses at the time. Here's every shot Pistol Pete made in that memorable game as leading scorer in NBA that season for Jazz against Knicks.

Bobby Jackson seems to have no problem acknowledging what just happened. But let me guess Bobby is a sellout and doesn't know what he is talking about.......

They just showed the highlights and some of those were tough shots with hands right in his face. Some of those he was off balance and not even in full shooting form. The one finger roll layup he made was in heavy traffic with three defenders almost blocking it.

I don't know how anybody can watch those highlights and then say the Kings played no defense. Sure on some of them they didn't including a few of those early shots but a good 6 or 7 of those shots were well defended and/or tough shots and he made them all. Why is it bad to acknowledge that?

It doesn't make you any less of a Kings fan to acknowledge that another player just had the greatest shooting performance in history.
You hear that? Bobby just said he would have fouled Klay hard.

This moron coach thought it was a good idea to throw Nik freakin Stauskas on Thompson after he was on fire....

not double teaming, not fouling, not our best defender. Nik Stauskas, one on one. Watch the Klay video. a lot of his shots are just one on one over Stauskas

I'm done caring about this team for a while.

Yeah and that still doesn't mean that Klay would have missed a shot. Guess we'll never know.

Bobby also acknowledged and showed respect/admiration for what he saw. He played the game and acknowledged how difficult it is yet so many here act like anybody could have done it.

A preview of Ty Corbin's postgame comments: "something something pace something something push the tempo something Klay Thompson something something couldn't use timeout something something better pace next game something"
Somwhere PDA is thinking to himself that if only we ran more and ran faster Klay would have got tired and lost his legs. Honestly it would not surprise me at all if that is exactly what PDA/Vivek are thinking.

You've made an unpleasant game (even the Klay performance I can respect and appreciate) far more unpleasant tonight.

Yea and he also acknowledged the Kings didn't make any adjustments when Klay made them his personal chewing toy.

Yeah I know you hate me and I make your forum experience miserable. Cry me a river....... Maybe you should go tweet about it on the ol' twitter because that's like super important and the world needs to know.
Don't let me ruin your night bro.

Come in man give Corbin credit he put Ray on him after Nik failed.

That's ridiculous. It's not one or the other. Saying the Kings didn't do much to stop Klay, is NOT saying anybody could have done what Klay did. The fact is, he did it while playing a crappy team, with a curiously apathetic coach.

That kind of shooting is amazing, even if no ones' guarding you. We barely did.

Oh I've heard.........

Klay may hold the all-time record for scoring in a quarter but he'll never be a basketball forum mod, so I guess in that sense his basketball career will always have a bit of a void.
Damned right.

I've been watching basketball for a long time. I'm quite certain that this isn't the first time I've ever seen somebody break a record, so I'll be the judge of what I should be impressed by, if you don't mind.

EXACTLY!!
That the kings put up no fight against a guy that was ESPN'ing them overrode my enjoyment of watching Klay. I only see Klay when they play the kings. I have to watch this mess of a kings team 39 more times.

And as for us, if anything it probably gets us off the hook. Nobody was going to beat Klay Thompson tonight. We were right there, and then Klay happened.
This was history, but there is a reason no one has ever scored 37 in a quarter before. Because the defending team usually decides that they're just not going to let the hot guy shoot anymore. Pick him up at half court with a double. Get the ball out of his hands. Knock him on his butt. Whatever you gotta do.

It was the same argument when Kobe went for 81. People questioned how Toronto let that happen. At some point make someone else beat you. Even if you're giving up layups. As long as it's not to the guy scoring 80 points on you.

He scored on everyone. It didn't matter who you put on him. I watched the replay he shot over nik, Ray and Ben.
