Brooks would have to be fired if OKC doesn't make the playoffs. And that's certainly a real possibility.

Okc has won 4 straight, 7 of 10, and has lost a game to the 8 seed Suns since they've gone 8-2 over the last ten.

The only team seeded 4-8 they gained a game on was Houston in that time.

It's tough in the west.
Doesn't that seem like a huge overreaction? I mean what kind of owner fires a head coach for failing to make the playoffs when his best player (a perennial MVP candidate) missed a month and this might end up being the hardest season ever to make the playoffs in the West? Yeah I know... but this guy is also a Coach of the Year winner who's won his division four years in a row.

And the problem I see is that pretty much ANY successful coach with a good track record will not be taking orders from Pinky and the Brain. That leaves us with a fantastic personal growth opportunity for our owner and (lacking that) a very diluted coaching pool.
This is the crux of it. Idiot owner doesn't want to win, he wants to play with his vision. If we get wins, cool beans. If we don't, no sweat. He needs to trot out a company man. That's why PDA was hired. That's why Malone was fired. Wins don't matter to Vivek. Style points matter. He's said all along his goal is for NBA "3.0" and reaching India. He's trying to develop a brand/style of basketball to make money off of.

This means Karl won't coach. It means Thibs won't get a call. It means JVG won't happen. And given the bruising half court style that DMC plays, I can easily see the goons trading DMC if they can find 3 Derrick Williams clones.

1) I am NOT convinced George Karl is really a great idea/sure thing here. George Karl is Pace!!! George Karl has never coached a low post big man system. Kemp was a runner. Camby a jumpshooter. Melo is the closest thing. Or even Payton.

2) I also AM concerned about Karl's personality vis a vis Cuz. Malone had the relationship right to reach Cuz. A partnership. A friendship. Karl is a big personality, who has a bad habit or airing dirty laundry in the press. He's a big entity and big ego. All of which makes him perfect to stand off from the front office idiots. But also makes him stand off from the players and pick at them. He's had his conflicts.

3) If Dan Fegan is involved in picking the next head coach, then good. Cousins SHOULD be hiring the next coach. They should never have fired his last one, but Cousins owns the franchise now, not the paceteers. If Cuz is too loyal a personality to realize that, Dan Fegan is not. And everything depends on the next coach being Cousins approved.

4) all of the above said, I have absolutely no trust for the stuff coming out of the front office on this topic. They consistently conveniently blame everyone but themselves for all the unpopular crap they keep on pulling.
Have you heard the other options the 3 stooges have us linked too? Karl is our only hope you better pray he comes here.

You know, there are legitimate criticisms of the front office, and then there's stuff like this. I don't even know what this is. I mean, this is so dissociated from reality it's on the same level as convincing oneself that George Washington was a British stooge.

I'm not sure anywhere it said Cuz stopped it but Cousin's agent was a roadblock. The too big of an ego compared to his actual abilities is probably more applicable to your most favorite person, PDA himself.
Cuz agent is a representation of cuz himself. If this is true then cuz is a cancer. You can't win with that.

I'd totally be on board with Brooks, and I hope for the overreaction, if only because it could potentially weaken a team taking a playoff spot.

Karl elevates average teams to the playoffs in the weather. What has Demarcus ever done?

I'd rather have both, but if it's an either/or thing I'd take Karl.
I'd rather us not become an average team.Your shortsightedness, however, intrigues me. Are you seriously saying you'd take a coach with about 3 years left over a franchise talent with about, oh, a decade or so?

Considering Cousins's previous coaches, I am more than OK with him being "on board" with the new guy before he is hired. 100%, and twice on Sundays. The FO has to get this right - they're the ones who need to be put on notice. The conversation of moving Cousins is a non-starter.

No. I'll take both. If Cuz doesn't except that then he's not a "franchise talent" to begin with.

WTF are you babbling about now?

Cuz is far and away a franchise talent. He's a top 5 player in the world. And what has Cuz ever done? Put up HOF numbers only a select few have ever reached at the same age and turned himself into one of the top defensive centers in the league, while his GM and owner have failed to put together a quality supporting cast and fired the best coach he's had in his time in Sac. What has Anthony Davis ever done? Hasn't won anything at this level but he's still a clear HOF talent suffering in part from a poor FO and head coach.

There's some here who think labeling you as a troll is too harsh of a stance. Maybe, maybe not. But you sure as hell don't come across as a fan of this team and seem intent on hijacking discussion and invoking a response. How far off that is from being a troll, not exactly sure. That's in the eye of the beholder.

So your ok with cousins nixing accomplished coaches because of his ego?
So you are going to take a side note about the possibility that Cousin's agent might have blocked Karl's hiring as fact. And then going farther by attributing rumored actions to Cousin's ego. On top of it all, the whole leak is suspicious. The attempt to change narrative is disturbing.

To me a more likely scenario is that Ranadive does not want to give a coach, Karl, the freedom and authority that a coach like Karl would demand.
