Grant calls out front office on his radio show -part 2

Oh my freaking God, how shameless is Grant, back-stepping on his comments from The crapstorm Broadcast of Dec 30th?

His main points are whoppers:
* This organization is run by incredibly, amazingly, over-the-top SMART PEOPLE who are leaders of their industries and we should worship them as gods.
* Like the stock market, there are ups and downs. Now we are in a down cycle, but Someday Soon (TM) The Kings will be back to a winning franchise.

What kind of unsupported, irrational, unstuck-in-reality BS is this?!?!

edit: Oh, I see - this post was split out from the previous thread. That's probably a good idea, except many posters are replying to Grant's show and statements in the "PDA Conference" thread....

Another whopper:
* He didn;t hear the PDA conference this morning (just got in town, family day, blah blah blah).
Hey, genius? - we are well aware there is such a thing as *gasp* a recording of the conference that you would be supplied with by KHTK, since you are the main commentator of The Sacramento Kings.
You simply can not dodge your responsibility of commenting about the organization by saying "You didn;t wake up in time to hear it live."

Jesus, how stupid do the Kings and KHTK take us?!?!?!

If a caller came at him with B.S non factual reasons like that regarding the Pete or the Front Office Grant would rip him apart and not even let him talk. Its why Ill never listen to that show again.

He knew this was going down a week ago and that kings fans were going to be waiting to talk about this yet he oversleeps? o_O

Pretty obvious Grant doesn't think Corbin is the long term coach of this team. He uses the word, "if" way too much when talking about Corbin.

On the last big show, Grant said he wanted to hear the plan of the Kings going forward. Well, PDA said the plan is Corbin. Grant obviously doesn't buy that plan.

Yet he says he's up on everything after following twitter, reading "other" social media. He has time for all that but not time for the event, the interview, that only came about after his calling out Kings FO. Seems someone here is an actual arrogant idiot for sure.

I don't think there's a single person that follows basketball that thinks Corbin is the coach next season. Imagine being a player and knowing the front office considers this season a throw-away after starting out strong. It's gotta be demoralizing. I bet you'd probably lose effort on D. Maybe stop passing as much. Maybe show no hustle. Maybe start losing to teams like Detroit. Just imagine... I wouldn't blame a single player for quitting on this team like the FO has quit on them.

But in Petes eyes they should all just keep playing the same way just as on NBA 2K.

Dan Snyder is a smart man and he's a really bad owner.
David Kahn is a lawyer.

Geoff Petrie went to Princeton (and for those that don't know, in the Ivies we have a system whereby student athletes have to score within a certain percentage of the student body average in order to get in. So no out of place dummies majoring in basketball.)

I would imagine most of the owners are smart, given their mega-wealth. Might be a few who have inherited the money but not the brains, but as a rule at the very least well educated men and women. But its just no guarantee of anything.

Look, Vivek is a "smart" guy in a general sense. And I don't really doubt PDA is smart, even if I do doubt his honesty. But I mentioned before, Pete has the sort of resume you expect out of an intelligent person. But, and this is no shame on them, quite literally in New York you interview paralegals with that sort of resume. A member of the educated intelligent upper strata? Sure. But there is absolutely nothing there that says "oh, don't worry, Pete's on the job." I know straight up half a dozen people on this board with more impressive "smart" credentials, and there are no doubt more, just people who's details I don't know.

In general it comes down not to "oh these guys are smart", but to what these guys are smart AT. There are many great engineers who are embarrassingly bad writers. See Jane Run might tax them. There are many great writers who can't add past 20 without taking off their socks. And being "smart" only matters in this case if you are "smart" about the NBA, and critically in this case, smart about people. I've got considerable concerns about the former, and huge concerns about the latter. Hundreds of NBA people all around the league were "smarter" than our "smart" people and instantly unleashed a wave of mockery when they heard what we did here. Not all of them will have the same degrees, but they were all smart in the ways of the league, and in the ways teams react. And frankly that's worth 50 I.Q. points in unrelated fields. "Smart" guys fail all the time in this league.

Probably like me, I didn't want to listen and I didn't. Also, by missing it he was politically correct and saved himself the thankless task of commenting on it and responding to fans questions.

So i only caught like 20 minutes of Grants show so far, but one thing smacked me right in the face, Grant is pushing the same "New Arena in 2016!!!" narrative that Pete was blabbering about. They are trying to use that as a reason for Kings fans to just be grateful and stop complaining about the stupidity happening, and thats the crap i DONT LIKE!

how shameful. smells more and more like manipulation; people into basketball shouldnt care so much about a new arena in terms of the future of the success of the players of the franchise. only higher-ups like PDA and Vivek would care so much about that sort of stuff

Oh - one other thing -
Grant was pretty clearly talking to the Kings' management when he rephrased what he said on his previous Tuesday's show (that obviously got him in a lot of hot water). He kept repeating that "I didn;t say anything that was new, or novel - I was simply stating what many Kings fans and people around the league have been saying, so it shouldn't have been a surprise"....

If you read between the lines, he was basically telling us that the Kings' FO was surprised by what he had to say on that show.
Which AGAIN shows/reveals to us how damn disconnected the Kings' FO is from what the fans truly feel, despite what they say or are told on social media (even with all the damn technology they have at their disposal, they are apparently completely dismissing what all of us are saying!)

I swear, at this point, I think the only way Vivek/PDA will understand is if we march on their offices, camp out and demand they listen to us.
They seem to only understand reality when it intrudes on their precious personal bubble.

Honestly, I agree with Grant.

I thought today was refreshing and out of the box.

Would I rather Karl be hired? Yes. Do I agree with every decision this front office has made? By all means no. Small ball pisses me off.

That said, the overall trajectory over the past 2 years has been up. They deserve in some senses the benefit of the doubt. Today, bought them some benefit for a couple months.

I'll go run and hide from the potential lynching this opinion may warrant.

The question is if even one ounce of the "overall trajectory being up" (by what standard I wonder) cannot be entirely explained by the mere fact of Demarcus Cousins getting older, and Michael Malone's coaching. Certainly the entire trajectory has gone absolutely the opposite of up when either one of those two individuals has been removed from the equation. And one of them is Geoff Petrie's, and the other was Vivek's and has just been deposed permanently. So what exactly is this upward trajectory, and how much, if any, can be laid at the feet of Pete D'Alesandro, rookie GM with conveniently unavailable "data points".

Yup…
Sports is something that often befuddles business men because the rules don't translate. Often times it's often over thinking it that causes so much problems. Basketball at it's core is a simple game which is why having so many geeks in our FO is so worrying to me.
