Exactly. It's only been 8 games. Can we give the coaching staff/FO more than two weeks before final judgement?
From my experience, from this board, I no grace period, miss Tyreke, mourn over Drummond, live again drafts past, GMs past, past, past, so no forgiveness for the results of the first 8 games, or 9 or 10.

Tyreke is gone, just like Webber was gone. At some point it would be nice to just move on.
Yes, just like foolish people spent a good year after the Webber trade trying to justify "flexible pieces".

You learn nothing when you practice selective amnesia. And your past has real effects on your future. We don't suck today, have not sucked for years, because of random cosmic occurrence. We suck because of bad decisionmaking. Every major decision made is therefore critical to our future. Every flub painful and not to be repeated.

You also gain nothing when every discussion ends up with something about Evans. He's gone. If it turns out to be a bad decision, so be it, but it's a decision that was made.

We suck today because of years of neglect. I'm still not going to agree with you that the book is already in on the Evans decision. All I was saying here is that it's redundant to always use Evans as the go-to excuse for our team being bad.

I am spreading out to including the non-signing of Aldrich, the signing of Landry, the release of Douglas, etc. as things to ruminate about.

One of the only reasons why I keep bringing up Isaiah Thomas as a potential starter is because we let Evans go. We have nothing going to the rim. No one getting to the FT line in the starting unit outside of Cousins, and no perimeter scoring threat. Without going through each time, I'm willing to bet we have the worst scoring in the league at PG/SG combined. Hell, I bet the same goes for 1,2,3, and 4. It's Cousins and nothing else, every night.
While I think we actually would be slightly better starting IT, I still feel his role in the league is best suited as a 6th man.

The lack of starters is this teams problem. IT off the bench is a bright spot.

I always find that line of argument odd.

Our 2 (let's even say 3 with Jimmer) SGs are shooting .366, .383 and .375. We're getting a 9.4 PER out of the entire position combined. Last year we got a 17.8 PER. The player we traded the nonshooter for is a noted nonshooter himself, and shooting .308 from 3pt land. Last year Reke himself shot .338 from 3pt land. Meanwhile we don't have a guard on the roster who is keeping his man in front of him, or who can physically match up to a power player. The best guard on our team is now a 5'9" guy who likes throwing the ball at the hoop a real real lot. We completely lack a second weapon in the starting lineup.

But yes. Obviously people missing Reke must be hung up on the idea he's going to average 30ppg.

since you brought up PER

Evans 10.88 WOW what an improvement over the 9.4! This isn't last year.
GV 15.03

Oh and since you brought up mistakes how about the shooting guard we traded away cause of Evans

Martin 21.85 (A PER Evans has never come close to achieving, his highest was 18.28 his rookie year. Martin has 3 years over 20 in his career).

Well, Reke never had the benefit of being coached by Rick Adelman or playing with an absolute defensive attention hogger in Kevin Love.
That's honestly what pisses me off the most. Imagine if this team had developed its young talent properly. Thank goodness DMC wasn't ruined by last regime but they sure did ruin Reke from becoming the player he could have been. They should have kept him at the 1 and left him there to learn.

No, but its simpler than that -- he's back with Rick Adelman in an absolutely perfect situation for him. Really the only one he's ever excelled in. He peppers my fantasy teams for a reason. You could see it coming. He also BTW might be a good fit here next to Cousins & Vasquez, just as he is next to Love and Rubio. I say might, because I remain unconvinced our SGs are really expected to be major offensive contributors. And if they aren't, then obviously Kevin isn't out there to do the other things.

Meanwhile the Reke nonsense is just that, nonsense. He sprained his ankle, missed camp, his first game back was the first game of the season, coming off the bench, working into shape, in a new role on an oddly constructed team. The last couple of games he's started to look like himself. He'll be fine. But the role/team will hamper consistency until it settles or changes.

The Webber comparison is also nonsense. Yes, bringing up moves made a decade ago is exactly the same thing as bringing up moves made this very summer having very real effects on the team we are currently watching. Along those same lines we also shouldn't mention Carl Landry, or the change form Keith Smart to Michael Malone. Obviously no more relevant than bringing up Rex Hughes.

Wasn't Vasquez also injured preseason? Doesn't he deserve the same excuses you're giving Evans. Pointing out the fact that Evans had a better three point pct last year compared to Vasquez is an incredible reach. Obviously you can't reach judgement on a player after 3 weeks. I could have posted Evans' stats after 5 games and declared he was a terrible signing by the Pelicans.
