In last weeks thread on the above topic, I said that Thompson nees to start right now.

Wouldnt we all agree that if this team wins 42 games that would be a great season? So lets just accept the fact that this team aint going to se the playoffs. We thus need to get the young kids their minutes so they can develop.

Watching Thompson last night shows me two things. He is a much better rebounder than Moore, and he can shoot at least as god(likely much better) than Moore.

So what is the wait? no sense in waiting to start Thompson, just do it now. And Spencer has WAY better low post moves than Brad, he can shoot probably as well, so he should continue to get big minutes as well. This team is playing for the future, so let it start happening now. And if it does happen, please dont whine about the losses. We know they are coming

I say wait 1/3rd a season before letting Thompson get the green light. If nothing else it would be a statement to all the Kings players that age and potential do not determine your role on the team, but rather consistency and effort. If Thompson consistently puts up those numbers (and is all of a sudden a ROY candidate) then there is no reason why he shouldn't start. But let's not count our chickens before they hatch. If Thompson gets the start and then all of a sudden averages .350fgp, 5ppg, and 4rpg what will that do to his confidence when he goes back to the bench and Moore gets the start again?

Same rule applies to Hawes when Miller returns.

Until Miller's suspension is over, Moore can still be my starter at PF so as not to drastically change team chemistry whatsoever as long as giving respect to the vet is in line. But Thompson should get more minutes over him if the kid continues to average double-doubles in games.

And when Miller returns and Hawes is still playing well, I'll start Miller at PF, Hawes at C. Then Thompson still comes off the bench. If Thompson performs better than Hawes' or Miller's production consistently (5 games as minimum), only then will I hop on the bandwagon of Thompson as a starter.

And BTW, I think our guards cost the game against the Wolves. If Garcia was not available, we should have let Greene play. Jackson should just be limited to playing the point. Age is starting to get into him now. A lot of old guys can still flourish playing the point rather than the SG spot.

Without Garcia, there was big whole in the SG-SF rotation, where Greene could have been used, even if Douby was playing.

Who finishes is more important than who starts. In his NBA debut, Jason got more minutes than the veteran he subbed in for and finished the game. I'm not worried at all about him getting enough PT as long as he's playing well.

Why strike a blow to Mikki's ego by relegating him to the bench after 1 game, while simultaneously cranking up the expectations on Jason? Not the way to start off the season on the right foot.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Jason has a place in this league, he'll manage to pass Mikki on the depth chart sometime before the season is out.

The teams' needs should always supercede whatever need an individual player has.

Forget about Moore's ego. He is supposed to be professional and not get hurt by the fact that he is not the starter talent at #4 who can get this team back to it's glory. Moore will get his millions, whether he starts or come off the bench.

There is no valid reason in delaying the development of Thompson by not starting him NOW. The team badly needs a real talent at #4. The kid had shown he has more game and effort than any other veteran we have playing the #4. We might as well fast track his development, because there is really nothing to lose and more to gain if we do it NOW.

Any player will tell you, they learn more by playing the real game.

Salmons 24 minutes
Martin - 38 minutes

Miller gets the start, but Hawes splits the time.

Sheldon & Miki can fight for the remaining 8 minutes at pf

B. Brown and Douby need to play more at the point. Beno is overated (by Petrie).

Douby gets 10 minutes a game behind Martin

Garcia doesn't start, but splits time with Salmons (I can't stand Salmons)

With all due respect, Mr. Musselman, you were fired for a reason.

Any player will tell you, they learn more by playing the real game.

As I said, Thompson has been playing more minutes that Mikki. I hardly see how not having his name announced for starting lineup introductions is stunting his development, and you'll have to enlighten us on why a 6th man role and being on the court for crunch time does not qualify as "playing the real game."

I am confident Jason will replace Mikki as starter at some point this season. I see no reason to take the knee-jerk approach of basing the decision on one or two games.

Why not say YOU ARE NOT SO CONFIDENT Jason will replace Mikki as starter at some point this season, so it does not contradict the rest of your statement saying you see no reason to take the KNEE-JERK APPROACH OF BASING THE DECISION ON ONE OR TWO GAMES. Because if you really have confidence in Thompson, you wouldn't find any reason to base your decision on one or two games.

When I say " real game ", I don't only mean the actual minutes played in real games. I also mean the reality in those games that Jason Thompson should be starting, so we can have a higher chance of winning. Moore just isn't good enough than Thompson to start the game.

Let me ask you a question:
Do you honestly believe Moore is still a better player and can contribute more to the team than Thompson at this point in time?

If you say YES, then there is no point for me to argue, because we are probably not seeing the same Kings games.
