So last Wednesday was Yom Kippur, the holiest, most introspective, solemn day of the Jewish calendar. But, the rabbi of the synagogue was trying to lighten up the congregation for a few minutes before beginning his sermon. So he walks into the crowd (maybe 700 people) and asks, "Anyone who is here for the first time, please raise your hand." So then he goes up to a few of the people whose hands are raised and he asks if they're new in town or what.
So gets to this one like 30 year old young man and he says, "What do you do?" and the guy replies, "I'm a coach;" and the rabbi says, "For whom do you coach?" and he says, "The Kings." And the rabbi says, "Really??!! You're on the Kings coaching staff?" And the guy says, "Yes." So the rabbi takes the guy by the hand and leads him up to the very front of the congregation and gives him an honored seat at front of the congregation, and if it weren't Yom Kippur, I guarantee you, it would have been the loudest applause ever in that chapel.
On TV during half-time at the Clippers game there was a short spot on Dan Shapiro, the Kings' new strength and condition coach, the guy in question.
