The NBA has fined Sacramento Kings coach Reggie Theus $25,000 for comments he made about the officiating following a loss to Detroit. The league also penalized the Kings $25,000 Thursday for Theus' actions. Theus said it was "ridiculous" that the Pistons took 36 fouls shots to just 17 for the Kings in Detroit's 100-92 victory in Sacramento on Tuesday.

Shame on Theus for questioning the almighty officials. Besides, it's not like a ref would have money on a game or anything. :p

Wow. Now they are fining people for making comments indirectly about the refs. Theus did not say the refs were ridiculous. He said it was ridiculous that the pistons had this many free throw attemps, and we took this many.

The argument can be made it is an indirect comment about the officials, but he never mentioned the refs directly. What's ridiculous is Theus getting fined.

I will say though that Reggie's comment said it was ridiculous that the Pistons had more shots on our home floor. His player mentality slipped out there for a second, because refs are supposed to be impartial. The edge in foul shots shouldn't just go to one team, because they are at home.

Whatever the reason of coach Theus for saying those things, I give him my thumbs up. $25,000 is costly, but well worth getting this issue as big as it is. It could draw some positive results - the refs might be careful on their officiating next time and the players somehow will know they have not done enough attacking the basket.
