Here's the good news: The NBA has just released its full 2013-14 regular-season schedule , a massive 1,230-game slate that will treat us once more to the best basketball being played anywhere in the world, a beautiful game featuring a remarkable array of established icons, emerging stars and fresh new talents who'll combine to dazzle us from Halloween through the summer solstice. [Related: NBA's top 10 games to watch in 2013-14 ] Here's the bad news: We've still got a full 84 days of waiting ahead of us before we can open our present. (It's going to be a looooong late summer, y'all.) Luckily, we now know exactly what we've got to look forward to, kicked off by a three-game Opening Night slate on Tuesday, Oct. 29, that will feature the Miami Heat raising their second consecutive NBA title banner and receiving their 2012-13 NBA championship rings at AmericanAirlines Arena. They'll be taking on Tom Thibodeau's Chicago Bulls, who will likely be welcoming back 2010-11 NBA Most Valuable Player Derrick Rose, who recently dubbed himself the best player in the NBA ... which is a title most observers associate with a guy who'll be on the other side of the court. (Maybe you've heard of him — last name's James.) While all eyes will be on the matchup in South Beach, that won't technically kick off the 2013-14 NBA season. The first game of the season will tip off about an hour earlier, at 7 p.m. ET, when the revamped and retooled Indiana Pacers welcome No. 2 overall pick Victor Oladipo (who, as you surely recall, starred for the Indiana Hoosiers) to Bankers Life Fieldhouse to begin the festivities. After things wrap up in Indianapolis and Miami, we'll be treated to a West Coast nightcap between the defending Pacific Division champion Los Angeles Clippers, led by maxed-out point guard Chris Paul and new head coach Doc Rivers, and their in-house rivals the Los Angeles Lakers, who may or may not be featuring a new starting shooting guard to begin the season.
