That's what I'm talkin' 'bout! Tremendous execution down the stretch. Now, we've got two to get one!
Yes, Slim. The execution, when they really really needed it down the stretch, was unbelievable!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, indeed! :D :D

Ok, lets be honest here, raise your hand if you threw in the towel after the M's failed to tie the game with Lawson's jumper and fouled Hou?

::waves hand in the air::

I could barely watch the OT. Talk about stealing a game. They did many things right, but also did things to drive us crazy....

I'm still surprised that they got out with a win....

The execution ... and the poise. And how bad does the Comet coach feel right now?

Oh well...can't find it in me to shed a tear.

;)

MAJOR PROPS to the Monarchs and to my gal, Nicole!!! (Or N-POW! as I've decided to call her.)

Okay, I'm giddy. Hard to believe, I know, but it's so nice to have something to be joyful about. The Monarchs have worked very, very hard and it was nail-biting for me to watch (especially since I seem to sometimes be the bearer of the feared VF21 curse).

Those of you who are going to be at Arco to welcome the ladies home, be sure and yell for me, too!!!

From post game radio show

\Coach T: Credit to Coach Whis for keeping the team together...Super basketball mind Steven Shuman drew up the late game shot...They made adjustments to thing they do--sag and jam on the low post etc... to win the game. Team excited about he win, now they've got to regroup and go home. They got some easy shots off of penetration.

kara: (Koz asked what they learned tonight) We're fighters, we're winners. Everyone has asked all year, how are you so good? Not favored vs LA, losing ticha, woe is me Sacramento....but this team has confidence. They found a way to score...(after not knowing how they were going to). You can go down the list, everyone beleives in each other etc..On hou end, its still a positive they know they can go and win two on the road....might have gloating a bit too much in the locker room but they know its not over. Shumen drew up play for Demaya to be a decoy, Yo screened again for Powell, even defended, she made a heck of a shot. Kara told Nicole with 3 min to go she can still be the hero after clunking away most of the game....Its about having the will to win, they've took their best shot and came away with a win

Koz and Jason Ross: Powell's shot ranks in the top 3 in M's history....but can take precedence if the M's can finish the series and this leads to something bigger....No one has given the M's a chance since the begining of the year, like Kara said, but this team continues to win. What more can they do? They keep digging deeper and deeper. Maybe we should stop questioning the resiliency of this team

I think we might officially be able to stop questioning the resiliency of this group. That's now off the table at least for me.

I gotta say, Nicole seems to pick her spots. ;) I saw her hit an even more ridiculous shot to seal a win for Stanford in their conference tourney a few years ago.

Congratulations Monarchs, now come home and get it done!!!!!!! ON SATURDAY!!!!

Congrats Monarchs for winning the first game.

Wow, it was one exciting game and luckily it's on ESPN. The last round I couldn't watch any game because I don't have NBATV.

Maybe I'll have my crow cordon bleu....go all out. :D Boy, I am still all tensed up. Woweeee! What a feelin, tho!! Wheeeeeeeeee!

I liked that Kara said they tempered the celebration in th locker room, because they know what Hoston did to Seattle last series. That's good.

(6th...like your 'do...very regal. ;) )
Omigod, going to the game Saturday will be intense.

Now that you mention it, weren't the Monarchs projected to finish 6th in the conference before the season started?

Most people had them last or next to last in the Western Conference. Definitely missing the POs. I think that makes it especially sweet. But I am taking this one game at a time.

MEEEEEEE!!!! :: throw your hands in the air, and wave um like you just don't care::

I thought that the flow of the Monarchs offense was a little ragged, thus the low shooting percentage. But the execution was unbelieveable. What a great ball game!!! Here are my grades and comments Bricklayer style:

Brunson: (C+) With DeMya back, she played limited minutes but did not make any mistakes. Only one board, but was effective around the bsasket.

Powell: (B-) Hit the two biggest shots in the game. The one in overtime with the shot clock winding down, off balance. MAN JUST SWEET. Largly ineffective throughout, but made them when they counted.

Griffith: (B+) 14 pts, 8 rbs, 2as, 2 stl, 2 blks. Just another day at the office for MaMa Yo. I thought played Snow pretty well. Was a force on the offensive boards and in the defensive paint.

Newton (B+) Although Swoopes went off in the second half, I thought Chelsea did a good job containing her. Hit a big three in the second half to keep the Monarchs close. Ball handling was great.

Lawson (A-) Play the point very, very well. In my opinion the Game MVP. She was aggressive, was thourough. Controled tempo more on the slow side rather than Ticha's quick pace. Was the team's biggest outside threat, and rebounded like Bobby Jackson.

Maiga (A-) Great energy, penetrated. There was a time that she may have forced a couple of shots, but offensively was very effective. She made the Comets pay attention to her.

Walker (A+) She moved great. Her post moves are one of the best in the league. Made the lateral cuts that she needed to to keep Comets off balance. Teamed with Yo to form a dynamic defensive tandum in the paint. There was a couple of plays that when the Comets were approaching the basket, DeMya rotatated on the weak side and shut down the paint. Especially on the last play in regulation. That was awesome.

Haynie (B+) 21 minutes, ONE TURNOVER. Enough said. Played good defense.

OSR (B) Took one shot at the free throw line, and I almost tossed my remote but dog gone it if she did not hit it.

John Whisnant (A++) Has been a miracle for this club. He gets this team ready on the defensive end better than any coach in team history. There was not one substitution that I questioned. Not one.

Awesome is the right word. That was fabulous. And I'm glad the refs didn't decide this game. I also loved Haynie's hustle throwing that almost out-of-bounds ball off the Comets player, getting the Monarchs the ball. Just great hustle and focus with limited mistakes for the Monarchs tonight. Would like to see a few more rebounds Saturday, tho.

But that was an awesome game by the Monarchs. That is definitley in the memory books.

Awesome game tonight. Even if the Monarchs did lose the game, it was a great game by both teams. These are the types of games that will get the "average joe" to pay more attention to the league. Looking forward to Saturday...

GET IT DONE SATURDAY LADIES!!!
