Will Mobley make this team better on BOTH ends?

One thing thats interesting about getting CAT is thathe obviously is another offensive threat, who on most days is a solid defender. Considering Mobleys offensive abilities, could he actually make the team better not only on O, but a bit on D -- because it allows guys like Webber, Bibby, Peja and Brad Miller to focus on defense and normalizing the teams amount of possesions per player.

Guys take better shots, score more efficiently, instead of forcing it to Webber on every possesion they can balance things out and in return have more energy on defense.

So far the Kings are with SA and Dallas at 4-6 in the NBA in offensive efficiency. Pho, Seattle, and Miami pretty much have firm holds on the top 3 offensive powerhouses in the league. However, the Kings have moved up to #12 in defensive efficiency.

Can you see them continue to move up as the season progresses, while maybe even getting better on O? I look forward to seeing if their D and O can both improve with Mobley and of course if Peja gets on track with his abilites down the stretch of the season and in the playoffs.

Could this trade do more than meets the eye? Not just offense, but also add a dimension and extra energy to the defense, because the offense is actually more balanced?

What do you think? Is it likely the Kings will start playing better D, while maintaining and improving their offensive efficiency?

at least the opposing guards will wear down a little having him in the back of their minds as a offensive threat. christie wouldn't do that for us

he is an underrated defender...he's gonna do the lil scrappy things like get to the loose balls force turnovers and so on...i think he definetly has the ability to do it on both ends and i think in the few short weeks he's been with us he's actually showed us that he has that ability

From what I have seen of Mobley he is a pretty good defender. Is he as good as Doug was in his prime? Probably not, but he's not an open door with a name on the back either.

The Cat is cool.

The team seems to play better team defense with Cat for whatever reason. When they get more practice/game time together, the defensive rotation should get even better. The thing about Cat is he makes big, timely plays. Which Doug did too, it's just Cat makes them a lot...like almost everygame. When he hit that first 3 in overtime to answer back after Padgetts 3... I was like ok Cats feelin it, but when he almost lost the dribble and went out of control over in front of Houstons bench and just collected himself and Knocked down a consecutive overtime 3 with 3 guys running at him, he won me over. He seems to be like a Hybrid mix of Bobby and Dougs best qualities. He even makes key steals for breakaways to win games like Doug.. I've even seen that laser pass from the top of the key a time or two.

--Props to Cat he deserves them.

Its not a height thing it (he'd up 2-5 inches nightly) it was more of a no one can guard TMac, only TMac can take himself out a game. The top defenders have trouble with TMac.

Right now his D is as good as (or better than) Doug's is now. What he gives up in height he makes up in positioning, hustle, and that extra long wingspan of his (in an interview he said he had about a 6'10 wingspan, but its probably less than that).

Cat's addition, along with the emergence of the young perimeter players (particularly Evans) seems to have sparked the overall defensive effort of the team. It's reminiscent of when Doug and Bobby first joined the team.
