Why The Other Owners Might Vote No

on this board, people have been saying that other owners will not stop the Maloofs because the other owners might need support down the line....but...by supporting the maloofs( 1 owner), they are going against TWO owners ( lakers and clippers), so would the othe rowners want to pee off 1 owner( kings) or 2 ( lakers, clips)?

Warriors are against it as well.

so i just dont get this idea that owners will support the maloofs because they themselves might need the maloofs support down the line....by supporting them arent they going agianst the wishes of apparently 3 teams? isnt that enough reason to vote no? i jus see on this board that almost everyone brushes off the governors vote saying no way that a majority votes no but i jiust have a hard time seeing why they would be so inclined to vote yes. Unless they all have to listen to Mighty David Stern which is my fear...man i hate that guy

then again wouldnt maloofs and samueli already know this? why would they be so progressive and active about this move then? so maybe my theory/idea is hogwash, gahhh im drivin myself crazy

Mark Cuban voted no on Seattle's relocation so we can probably count his as a 4th vote.

We've discussed this before and these are the facts. It takes only majority vote, so if it's 15-14 in favor that's enough to say bye-bye Kings. The Maloofs are among most well liked, respected of NBA owners by their fellow owners. They may get dissed by some fans and non-fans in Sac but not by their fellow owners. I've never heard a single NBA owner say anything remotely negative about the Maloof family and especially Joe and Gavin. Stern works FOR the governors, not the other way around. He may or may not have influence on them, but they pay his salary. I don't hate the guy at all but I don't love him either.

It seems to me, the best, possibly only, way to get a majority of the owners to vote 'no' is to get a solid arena plan in place before the vote. KJ seems to talk tough about getting an arena built asap. Here's his chance. The only reason to let the Kings move is because the *cringe* PBP is highly inadequate. If it's in the process of being replaced, then how could a majority of owners think it's a good plan for them to go, let alone the NBA?

Just because The Maloofs are well liked doesn't mean owners will automatically vote in their favor. If there's several teams protesting the move that's sure to make a difference. Big markets may be weary of the precedent allowing 3 teams in one market would set too. Nothing like has even been attempted before so i don't think you can go by what happened in past votes. this is a unique issue with many different reasons why owners may not want to support it.
