Why Hasn't Ilyasova Been Suspended by the NBA?

Kingster

Hall of Famer
It was an obvious forearm shiver to the face. Are you telling me that if this happened to Kobe or Lebron that this guy wouldn't have suspended for several games? This sends a very bad message. Just clock our pending superstar whenever you can, preferably in traffic, so you can claim it was "unintended".

Well I hope that next time we face him we send Brockman in to straight up elbow the guy in the face for max damage points.

We can send our own message.

Ain't gonna happen...has Kobe been suspended yet for his 'unintentional' Muay Thai elbow that gave Bibby a bloody nose in 2002? No need to cry or wait around forever for that to happen because it isn't.

I don't think the NBA cares what kind of messages they send as long as the right people are kept happy.

Because while it may have been intentional (at least in your eyes), it certainly was in the flow of the game. I really doubt he would have been suspended no matter what team or player was involved. I mean, it's not like Ilyasova is a household name or plays for a high profile team. Do you really think the fix is in for the Bucks?

i dont think he ment it
landry was falling on him .
that was a mistake
i gave my friend an elbow when i rebounded today
and it was a mistake

There is video of these things. Often from several angles. The league needs to do the right thing whether its Kobe or some Euro banger who plays for a team in Wisconsin. Fines and suspensions from games is what is needed.

I haven't watched it since the game, but I didn't think it was intentional or that he needed to be fined or suspended by the NBA.

It wasn't the elbow. It was the forearm shiver. Two separate actions. You saw one part of the film and not the other.

So a forearm shiver is warranted if it's in the flow of the game.

The elbow wasn't intentional, the forearm was really not that bad ... pushing a guy away from him while getting a rebound. Not only should he not be suspended, I'm not even sure if I'd have called a foul on him for it. It sucks for Tyreke, but it happens.

This is the sort of thing traditionally handled by your teammates the next time you face him. We've rarely had players with that kind of spirit on our team though. Brockman maybe, but he too is likely too nice a guy to really send a message.

Eventhough I think both the elbow and follow through were intentional, based on a camera angle from the sideline, it's not really something the nba can prove. On this foum we can't even agree if, or how much of it was intentional. Anything that questionable isn't likely to draw a fine or supsension from the league.

Aside from that, I really would like to see someone on this team send a message next season. Not so much for retaliation, although seeing Brock slam Illyasova to the floor would bring a smile to my face, but more these young guys on our roster have to learn how to stand up for each other. As we become more successful, and more of a playoff threat, we will be tested by other teams. They will try to send messages with hard fouls and physical play. We will have to learn to stand up to it, and also stand up to anyone who tries to take shots at our budding superstar.

At some point next season, Tyreke will be fouled hard and will fall hard. Someone will take a cheap shot at him at some point. When that happens, one of our bigs needs to stand up for Tyreke, and his teammate. Let the other team know they aren't getting away with that when they play us. I'm not talking about throwing punches or flagrant fouls. But say something, let them know it's not ok.

At this point, I'm not sure either JT or Spencer has the b**** to stand up to another nba player. I've seen them both get fouled very hard, and not even glance at the player that just hacked the crap out of them, and follow it up with extremely soft post defense, never returning the favor. You need to have a little bit of a chip on your shoulder to be a successful big in the league, let people know you're tough and not going to be pushed around. Carl has it. Never seen it out of JT or Spence.

Agreed. It will happen again. And somebody needs to be there to be the enforcer. And so far, nobody has applied for the position.

Dude, it was a basketball play. **** happens in a basketball game. He didn't intentionally do anything. Why are you so worried about this? Let it go.

If you watched the game maybe you remember Udoka giving a nice shot to Brandon Jennings a few minutes after that play.

He's our franchise. I'm ok with people being protective of him.

I'd personally would prefer to see us go MLB style on him and hit him with a little pay back next time around. Send Brockman in for the hard foul. Put that d-bag on his back.

You're still going on about this?

No kidding. If you've ever played basketball then you would know that wasn't intentional. These players are massive and very strong. If you get hit inadvertently with an elbow to the face, it's going to do some damage. Tyreke isn't the kind of player that somebody would go after like this. He's low key and humble.

Let it go.
