Why Dallas lost + thanks Kings fans

mavsman

Bench
I want to make this clear: I am not going to sit here like Van Whiney and complain about the officiating. It's not why we lost - it certainly contributed when you have 2 of your key players foul out and no Rocket player have more than 3 fouls - but it's not why we lost. Van Gundy's complaining finally paid off - and it only cost him $100,000. I have a sneaky feeling Cuban is going to really give it to the NBA after this one...

But it's not why we lost. Why we lost was terrible shooting. The Mavs beat themselves tonight, plain and simple. 15%!!!!!!!! THAT'S THE FG% THEY SHOT IN THE 4TH. Terrible.

Now about the fans. My brother went to Houston tonight to see our Mavs play in game 6. He and my other friend didn't cause ANY trouble - yet they were constantly kicked, heckled, and had beer poured on them. Some tough guys threatened to kick their A$$ if they didn't leave the arena early. (Of course my brother didn't oblige, and the police had to escort them out)

I want to thank you Kings fans. Sure you cowbell the hell out of everyone but atleast you're not assaulting people in the stands. Respect.

Oh, we also lost b/c I broke a window today during my round of golf.

Well, actually I did it twice.

hey mavsman sorry to hear that your brother was heckled. that is unclassy and inappropriate. hate to say it but i would NOT be surprised if rockets fans report similar incidents in what is sure to be a heated and emotional game 7 at aa

Oh, that'll do it for sure. ;)

Though I still dislike the Mavs, I gotta feel for you guys. That was a golden opportunity you had there. That may have been one of the worst games Yao has played. Rockets basically won it with their bench. Finley screwed you guys again.

I feel for ya, man. You're definitely at the right team site for broken hearts :P. It was awesome to see the Dikembe finger wag though.

what comes around goes around... did you watch the end of game 5?

Im sorry to hear about your bro too, you know despite our dislikes against opposing teams (eg. the mavs, and the rest of the non-KINGS team) violence is uneccessary, it's just a game........{{{{{shake head}}}}} at those numb skull who takes the game too seriously.

I mean as he was telling this to me on the phone just now I was shocked. I knew he was in enemy territory but come on, that's taking it out of hand.

He also told me there were 2 female Mavs fans sitting right next to them and they got heckled just as bad too!

At least people don't get killed like in soccer games. I still can't imagine that. I think Texas is rather civil (unfortunately) compared to Detroit or Philly. Houston is about the mellowest crowd there is. I think your brother just got unlucky with the jackass section. People in Houston also seem to be taking the recent charges against their coach really personally. They got this mob mentality going.

if houston wins this gonna to turn out to be a really crazy series

Were not the first 2 games won by the bench/McGrady? I mean, Yao played better the 1st 2 games, but the bench was amazing...

Sorry to hear about that. I once visited Houston back when I was living in Dallas and San Antonio several years ago. What a nasty, muggy place!

No offense, but you're kinda asking for it if you did that. Raider fans are not the brightest of sports fans, and wearing a niner jersey to a game? I'd say you got lucky. :)

Heck, you can go to a Raider game with a Raider's Jerry Rice jersey and nearly get killed.

Actually, most of the Oakland fans are normal. It the wacked out L.A. Raider fans that you have to watch out for.

hey mavsman,

that's a cheap shot at seemingly categorizing all Rox fans in a lump just so you could start a thread laced with anecdotes to plead some comraderie with King's fans....and whine about...um...not really quite sure myself. Maybe you can repeat it again now that you have two threads of whining going on now.

hey, also, I go to everyone Rox game,,,and I have Dallas fan and stadium stories, too. Home and away. So...um...a what? What's your point.

Agreed! Stupidy and classlessness is equal opportunity in Texas.

Oh I'm sorry you've mistaken me for someone that cares. I was simply passing a story - not trying to establish comraderie with Kings fans. It doesn't make or break my life if a few Kings fans like / disklike me.

Maybe you can repeat it again now that you have two threads of whining going on now.

One of them was designed for post game comments. Not whining. Avery Johnson went off Van Gundy and it's getting feisty. Thought I'd share that along. If you have a very big problem with it - have VladeFan21 merge the two.

Well share them.

I don't condone it either way, regardless if its my home crowd Mavs fans or Rockets fans or wherever fans. There is no double standard here - classless fans are classless fans regardless of where they reside.

Well, I have no reason to share them. I have no point to establish by sharing them. Apparently you did, and you seemingly dissed all of Houston. You applied one anecdote to the entire city of Houston.

Oh, and Gargamel,

Yeah, that's a cute comment. But remind me again who all those smart and classy Californians voted for governor? haha

also, mavsman...this is just a bbs and we are at the end of a glorious playoff series. It's all good. Wish you were a Rox fan, but you're not.

still, you gotta love it.

7th game

both teams are going to take their best shot.

I love this game!

But you don't understand...that's why we love Houston. Because no tourist come here, and no arrogant Texans come here either. They all move to Dallas. hehe

that was not smart. should have thought about that one.

Okay, then everything is hunky-dory between mavsman and heypartner?

I certainly hope so, because the only thing that I actually care less about than which team faces the Spurs - and I'm sure it WILL be the Spurs - is watching the respective fans of the eventual losers throw tizzy fits about it on our board.

:p ;)
