Let's hear what you all think of Matt Barnes, and the other bench boys. Will they make it or break it?:)

Seriously, if Barnes can get that jumper under his belt, he'll be a career starter. The guy hustles his butt off, rebounds great for his size, plays tough D, and can pass. Can't create his own shot so I don't think he'll be a star, but he's an ideal roleplayer.

i don't know....for me its still too early to tell...but i definetly like Matt Barnes...and i think he's a great role player with this Kings team...he's a great scrappy hustle guy and i love those qualities in any NBA player...but in order to truly be that STAR...he's gotta be able to score and score consistently.....go matt!

and im glad there is someone else on this board, finally, that will post along with me about how hott Matt is...woohoo...welcome to the board hun!

Thanks!!! Maybe we are the only ones who know a good looking guy when we see one!!!!

Even if he improves his shooting, I dont think he'll be a star. Good role player, but not a star.

I think Martin could be real good if he develops right.

Matt has great potential to be a star. Mo Evans is right there too. Kevin needs time. Don't forget that Matt and Mo have played in the league before and are much more experienced than Kevin but Kevin is for the future.

I do agree that Matt needs to get his offense going, but truth is he still hasn't had a great opprotunity to show his offensive skills. When he gets more than 6 shots a game we'll know more about him.

Matt's not going to be a star. But he could be a good enough roleplayer to be a strong rotation guy.

Matt seems to miss quite a few layups...like throwing it off the glass too hard, those type of misses. Needs a softer touch IMO.

He actually kinda reminds me of a less rounded Doug Christie. He still has time to smooth out his edges though.

he wont be a star... but he could be a good starter like a rick fox... type complementary player or a great bench player like bobby jackson or jimmy jackson when he was with us.... he wont be a peja... type star.... he's not a coaches choice all-star..... but a star like bobby j... i could see that happening if he develops a decent jumper....

I'll agree with Brick, Matt won't ever be a STAR. But if he develops a softer touch inside, and at least some consistency to his jumper, he'll be a really good player in the league.

13-15 pts. 5-7 rebs. 2-4 assts. kinda guy.

SLAB take that popeye jones avatar off dude! everytime i look at it i think hes gonna fly away with them ears!

Matt shows great hustle and heart... but he needs to work on his shot ALOT!!! he looks like he is throwing the ball towards the rim... he needs to get some arch to his shot and flick his wrist... he reminds me of a young doug christie, but makes more mistakes... if he can get a consistent jumper and cut down on his over zealous passing mistakes... then he will be a solid role player for the kings...

GO KINGS!!!

I'm going to withold judgement on Matt for another year or so. Matt has all of the tools to be a star but lacks the scoring touch at this point in his career. But there are plenty of guys in the league that have held on long enough to develop aspects of their game to make them valuable commodities. If Matt works on his shooting and maintains his current hustle game he still has a chance to emerge as a star. Seems I heard he was a star football receiver before choosing basketball full time which would explain his lack of shooting touch, something that needs a lot of work and maintenance that hasn't happened yet.

Why is there so much celebration that we won 1 game against a below average team without 3 of their main players? Someone please make me understand. We played good, but aren't we supposed to being that we are a top 5 team?

Um, maybe because everyone thought we had ZERO depth at the start of the season and are getting it done with guys who were basically walk-ons? Thought to be nothing more than camp fodder? It's nice to see young guys emerge, rise to the challenge, etc.
Who peed in your wheaties?;)

The squad we were able to field last night was not a Top 5 team. Heck, its not even a playoff team. So for that squad, its a tough quality victory.

I'd take it as a given that if we had all of our guns and got taken to OT by the Warriors there wouold be some muttering on the board about it being closer than it should have been.

That was ugly last night. He must have missed 5 point blank shots last night....I think he wanted to improve his rebounding stats :p

Matt is a hustle type guy. He doesn't have great finess, or a great touch, but what he doesn't have he works hard to make up for it. He'll never be a star in the league, but with some work he could be a career hustle guy/starter ala Doug Christie.

Brick, I understand, but me personally, my point to celebrate is when we are fully healthy with all the guys back, and the opposing team is a top 5 team who are also fully healthy and we beat them when we play at least 8 or 9 guys. Thats more celebration than this. Im obviously happy at the fact that we got a deserved "W" and the game was actually fun to watch, entertaining, but Im not counting victory over this. Thats all.

Never liked wheaties ;).

I agree with all of you. You all have very valid points. I just kinda wanted to know where people stood. He may not be a star...but he is ..... SAC TOWNS FINEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...sigh...

Quite frankly, I couldn't care less how "fine" he is. If you're just judging him on his looks, I think you're doing him a vast disservice.

I agree, he hustles his butt off, plays good D, but his shooting just does'nt come naturally, say like Lebron or Kobe.I do think in time he could a starter.

comparing barnes to lebron or kobe is just wrong.... they made up for their shooting by attacking the basket, dunking on nuccas.... and getting to the ft line. something that barnes does not, or can not do.
