It’s coming up very soon. Vote on what you think will happen. What is your gut telling you?
We were interested in Rui Hachimura. I think Monte maybe looking for guys that could become a starter down the line. We will still extend Barnes and gradually we will reduce his playing time. Guys like PJ Washington or Jelan McDaniels may suit this profile.I’m really interested to see what what happens here. On one hand a back up center makes sense but there are only 2 or 3 guys who I think would make a big impact. On the wing, what will it take for a reserve guy to get minutes over Monk, Lyles, Davion and whoever our current back up is? Defense? 2 guys known for defense don’t play hardly at all. (KZ and PJ). It feels like a wing addition would Mostly ride the pine unless it’s a clear upgrade.

Trade King Keegan for a 2 year rental
Man, just by including that as an option is a huge insult to Keegan and, more importantly, Monte. No way in heck do we trade our draft pick for a rental...Come on, Man!!!![]()
On that note, maybe I should change one of my votes to that choice...it was a reference to the Sabonis trade reaction and not to be taken seriously.
This has been the most fun I’ve had watching Kings basketball since maybe the white chocolate years and a lot of that has to do with getting to watch an Iowan do well in the NBA. Bonus he played in state for college unlike that trader BarnesI’ve had a bunch of people who don’t follow the Nba come up to me saying they have been following the Kings because of Keegan. Potentially a huge explosion of new fans here in Iowa. Monte is a fellow cyborg though and would trade a Keegan if he sees the right deal. I hope not as I think he is a winning player who is just scratching the surface.
The Kings will trade for Kelly Olinik which solves both the back up 4/5 position and become a way better team by adding size/IQ/shooting.
Future draft picks, and some financial compensation, for Gregg Popovich. He gets one final run at it, and we make a legitimate run at it (finally).I’m starting to think something with the Spurs. A few things seem to line up there

I'm thinking trade for backup wing or big.
I don't think McNair makes a huge splash this deadline. Presumably the core is set with Fox, Domas, and Keegan. Those guys fit together great and are all young enough to give us a pretty long window should the pieces fall into place around them.
Davion, picks, Holmes on the block. My dark horse trade piece is Huerter, I think he has a lot of value as a shooter on a great contract, while at the same we have enough offense to make him expendable.
McNair seems pretty decent at snagging underutilized guys from other teams (Huerter, Lyles) so I'm hoping he makes one of those trades that seems underwhelming in the moment, but then a month later we're like "Middle Manager did it again!"
McBuckets might be worth looking into as well if only because it might give Mike Brown the incentive to finally shift Lyles to more of the backup five minutes we've been struggling to fill.whether it's Richardson or Collins, they both could help the Kings and if all it costs is a second rounder or two, I think that's good value considering Monte hasn't hit on any of his seconds

don't you think Doug is kind of redundant though?
Having McBuckets on the bench would ensure the Kings almost always have one sharpshooting forward from Iowa on at any given time. Right now, on the rare night when both Harrison and Keegan are out of rhythm, the Kings offense grinds to a screeching halt unless they go small.don't you think Doug is kind of redundant though?
Not at all. Gives you a guy with built-in DHO chemistry with Domas in the 2-man game and the bench needs more scoring/shooting. For as explosive as guys can get off the bench, it's been very inconsistent throughout the season.
I also kind of like the idea of doubling-down on a strength, rather than just trying to patch the defense with a 8-10th man rotation player. Unless someone like Vandy is on the table, all the guys we're going to be looking at really don't move the needle that much on defense. McBuckets should cost nothing and I think would be a fantastic way to make the offense that much better.
I'll see if I can find the article on McBuckets-Sabonis 2 man game, but they were like insanely good for a 1 year and a half in Indy.
so who would he take minutes from then?
Might be a hot take, but if you can flip Davion for Vandy... I think you do it. Swap the defense at guard for the defensive swiss army-knife that can defend all over the floor. Monk has really taken ownership of the playmaking with the 2nd unit and I think really improves his value if you can put him at point. He should be 28+ MPG anyway.
Vandy immediately plugs our back-up C hole and I think long-term (next season) you start him at the 4 where he's the defensive lynchpin. 25ish MPG role off the bench for the rest of this year. I'd love him as a lob threat with Monk and I think he perfectly compliments Lyles off the bench. He does only have one more season of team control left, but we'd be acquiring his full-bird rights to pay him whatever. And there's also the Kentucky connection with Fox/Monk, although I'm not sure if they're close or not since he was a year after them.
That would leave a lot riding on Monte to resign Domas/Monk/Vandy all in the same off-season, but I think it's something we can actually depend on with the roster/chemistry we're building here.

A sloppy, drunk trade because I like giving the Fanspo trade machine a workout.
Gives the Kings depth on the wings and a backup big, the Sixers the best backup big in the NBA and cap relief next season, and the Spurs even more draft capital and a couple of solid young guys to put into their system (Korkmaz and Springer, who both felt like Spurs players anyways).
Trading a pick for 30 games of Poeltl probably wouldn't even crack a top five list of bad moves Morey has made in the last five years. With the way the Sixers are playing right now, they have a real chance of making it to the finals this season. It's an all-in move for sure but Daryl Morey is the biggest river boat gambler of all the GMs in the league.I’d do it, spurs too but I don’t think the Sixers would trade a ‘29 first for 30 ish games of Poeltl.
