7.4 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 1.7 BPG, 55.4% fg, 27.8 MPG

+ is athletic and can guard the 4 or the 5

give me that over everyone on that list except Chandler

RA said the other day that he will have to sit down with the coaches and see what changes in the offense have to be made. Thats why he mentioned that hed like to have Artest in a few practices before he gets on the court. We will see.

IMHO I find it pointless to discuss other 4/5's that are out there because unless their names are O'neal, Garnet, Duncan, or Stoudemire why bother? We'd just be shuffling the deck, all the stats are basically a wash. Oh, and let me throw Wallace in there as a difference maker as well. Starting KT over Reef makes no sense to me since KT can't guard anybody big. If his opponents score on him all the time there won't be anything for him to rebound.

I think it's apparent what style of ball we're going to be playing. GP has committed to discarding the "soft" Kings image by trading for Wells and Artest. Bobby Jackson (probably my favorite King of all time) was not soft and arguably had the most heart of any King in recent years (Bibby???) but we needed a decent starting two guard to replace Mobley. Artest WILL put an elbow into anyone's chest who comes down the lane. Wells is blue collar and can definitely bring the lumber like Artest. Wells plays hurt until his injuries prevent him from playing not because they make him uncomfortable. I think Miller will also "put on the Black Hat" when the heat gets turned up. I do recall a certain 7'0" 300+lb center throwing a haymaker at the back of Miller's head in Chicago. Did Miller deserve it, who knows? Who cares as long as he starts bringing the wood on a regular basis. Bibby wears the Black Hat on offense only but he does have the killer instinct and will go for the jugular. KT/Reef don't really have Black Hats in their closets but they are consistent and competitive so that will do. I hope that our Kings become as rough as Chuck Daly's Pistons and as successful and arrogant as that team from southern California that won that game that time......(ok I'll say it, the Lakers). Do not get the winning killer instinct confused with just blatant bad behavior a la Trailblazers. There's a big difference.

I hope Artest brought enough Black Hats for everybody.

Why have Reef out there and give up an extra 5-6 rebounds a game? His lack of rebounding is killing us. Id rather have Kenny go 4-10 every night and back it up with 11 rebounds than have Reef go 6-9 with only 5 reb's. We aren't going to win if the opposing team is shooting 15-20 more shots than us.

I will state again - Reef's rebounds were at 8-9 a game before he torqued his back. Kenny Thomas has not and is not going to average 11 rebounds. He's a sporadic rebounder that is flourishing from where he plays on the floor (not holding that against him).

Reef is not getting outmanned on the boards as badly as people want to make it seem.

good point...but not sure Reef man's up on anyone any better, and he also tends to slow our offense down.

He man's up MUCH better and statistically is our best defender.

This whole slowing the offense down thing is silly ... you scored 99.7 PPG before Reef went down and 99.7 after.... there seems to be little drop off ... and that's including the fact that our bench played like doo-doo.

But, if you think Bonzi and Artest are going to play "fast paced" offense ...

1. Sam Dalembert -- not attainable
2. Tyson Chandler -- would do it. Large contract is the only problem. Well, that and maybe Chicago can't/won't trade him because they are incredibly undersized themselves.
3. Joel Przybilla -- possible, but slow, and he and Brad together are SLOW
4. Eddie Griffin? (shorter, but does have a shot) -- not that much shorter (6'10") + athletic, terrible shooting percentages though, and while I liked this idea before, with Ron and Bonzi here think adding Grffin would be just asking for a JailBlazers lockerroom
5. Brendan Haywood -- possible, but not actually that great a defender, more of a post scorer, and again very slow pure center. He and Brad together would be very slow.
6. Tony Battie -- minor league player, not a starter on a good team
7. Steven Hunter -- overrated. Does not rebound. Sixers are finding out they may have overpaid.
8. Rasho Nesterovic -- would Spurs trade midseason? Another slow combo, and soft to boot. But more mobile than Haywood or Pryzbilla.
9. Nazr Mohammed -- not much of a shotblocker really, again not sure if Spurs would trade.
10. Dan Gadzuric -- like him, possibly attainable. Good athlete for a big guy. But probably would end up coming off the bench for us.

Blount and Kandi are off the market obviously. Not that I would have wanted either. Swift might be available, but he has not impressed and might be even more of a knucklehead than I thoguht he was. Evans is available and would possibly fit, but he's all rebounding fierceness with no shotblocking/defensive help. Gooden is avaiulable, but not what we need. He's available because he's undersized and not a good defender or terribly bright. Harrington might be availble, but again, not what we need. We alredy have guys likr that. Wright is very likely off the market with Memphis winning, and is no answer anyway IMO. Kurt Thomas might have been on the market at one point, but no longer with Phoenix desperate for size. PJ Brown is reportedly unavailable, and would obviously be a very temporary patch anyway.

There are reasons I keep on circling back to Chandler. 7'1" young shotblocker/rebounder who is a natural PF but can swing to backup center and patch that hole too. Great athlete. Just a big contract. Althoguh really if we could get him for some of Philly three contracts, who cares how big his deal is? We already have large dead salaries sitting around. Just have real doubts about Chicago making that deal even if they are unhappy with him because of their ridiculous lack of size otherwise.

Bricklayer, I don't know what in the heck is going on, but I agree with every single thing you've written in this thread.

I'm all for Chandler if it entails dumping some of the Philly 3 and the front office is able to confirm he still has a pulse. And of course Gadzuric.

Don't forget about Nene! The thing I like about Nene is that he has an offensive game, and so while he might not be quite as good of a rebounder/shotblocker as some of the other guys he could keep the offense moving and get those "Doug" points. One of the most underrated things about Doug was that he could turn on the scoring when the team was struggling offensively, and that skill prevented the Kings from losing on some off nights. And Nene is an athletic 4/5 who can match up well against other players and hopefully improve on the boards.

Otherwise, that's a pretty good (if depressingly short) list.
