What do you expect from Francisco Garcia this season?

[SIZE=-1]I wonder how many minutes/points/rebs/stls etc. he will get next season with Artest + Salmons on the Kings roster ?? What do you think?

As of right now, if this is the team we have:

26 min/gm
9 pts/gm
4 rebs/gm
1.0 steals/gm
4.0 assists/gm

If he averaged this many minutes per game, I could be off on the rebs but I think the assist total is about right. I expect him to backup at the 1, 2, and 3 to get his minutes.

How is he going to get 26 min a night? Not without injuries.

Ron = 35+
Kevin = 35+
Mike = 35+

Let's just call them each 36 for ease, but could easily be more.

Leaving 12+12+12 = 36 min for all the other 1/2/3s combined. Salmons, Cisco, Douby etc. If Cisco gets 26, then that's 10 for everybody else, which I rather doubt. He may be a favorite from college, so he might be able to nab 20.

Its just reason 1223 why the front office needs to do something to clean/clear things up. Unfortunately as 1223 is higher than they can count even if they remove their shoes for extra adding power I'm not sure it even registers with them. Youth development is all just magic and happens by itself.

Your assuming that the three guys you listed are going to average 35+. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. I'm guessing that Cisco is going to be good enough to be on the floor along with the guys that Theus feels need to be on the floor. There may be some games where he gets more burn than others. There may be some games where the Kings play with a smaller lineup,using Artest at short stints at PF...like last year. There is some real potential for using a smaller lineup to get certain matchups. I don't think anyone knows since Theus probably doesn't know the rotation yet.

how many did they average last year?

Ron - 37
Kevin - 35
Mike - 34

Assuming they stay the same, that leaves about 38 minutes for Garcia/Salmons/Douby/(whoever we decide is our backup point). I doubt Cisco averages better than 18 unless the other guys lose PT (for instance, Artest's seven game suspension will open up some minutes early).

I was going to say to remember that some of Artest's minutes might be as a PF, but then I remember how many other PFs are on the roster so maybe not so much.

Reggie Theus will utilize his personnel differently than Eric Musselman. For that reason, I don't think we can simply assume players will get the same amount of PT they got last year. Or assume they won't.

What do I expect from Francisco Garcia? I expect him to learn a little more control. I expect him to improve his court sense and I expect to see him work harder on NOT turning over the ball quite so often. I expect him to flourish more with Theus than he ever did with either Adelman or Musselman.

Other than that, I just expect him to show up and be ready to play whenever he's called on.

One thing we don't have to assume when it comes to Garcia is: he plays a heckuvalot better when he gets significant minutes than when he doesn't. But we don't know how minutes he's going to get because we don't know how Theus is going to distribute minutes. And because we don't know how minutes many minutes Garcia is going to get, we can't have expectations on how he's going to play when he gets minutes. Alas, we can have neither expectations nor assumptions about Garcia...

Yes one can venture to guess and have expectations and assumptions based on the situation at hand. Those expectations and assumptions can or will change when things start to shake out during training camp and then during the games. For now, I'm assuming that Garcia is going to have a big role during this season.

I expect Garcia's contributions, per minute, to be comparable to, or slightly better than, his figures of late last season. I also expect him to make a lot of less tangible contributions, in the form of good D, and so on. I can't predict more than that, because anything more would be attempting to forecast both Reggie Theus' behavior, and possible roster changes by the FO, and I don't have enough information to do that.

If Garcia is starting (meaning Artest is gone) than I expect something like;

33mpg 16.5-17ppg 6-6.5rpg 3-3.5apg 1-1.5spg 1-1.5bpg 43%fg 36%3pt 82%ft

If he is coming off the bench;

18-22mpg 13ppg 4.5-5rpg 2.5-3.0apg 1.0spg 1.0bpg 45%fg 37%3pt 84%ft

Anyone wanna wager? :)

Garcia is a flat out scorer. If given the minutes he can produce. He is an above avg rebounder for his position, above avg defender, above avg shooter, and above avg passer.. Why we don't get the guy minutes is beyond me. I think he is a better fit for what Theus wants to do than Artest is...
